Henfield Scouts Centre Building Appeal

Henfield Scouts Centre Building Appeal The oldest Scout Group in the world, founded in 1907, urgently needs to replace its 50 year old wooden Scout Centre. Please help by donating now....

The existing building is deteriorating at such a rapid rate, it is estimated that in two years it will become too dangerous to use and will be condemned. Without a Scout Hut, the Oldest Scout Group in the world will have to close. The Clarkes Mead Trust (Registered Charity No 305885) has set up a Project Team to raise funds for, and organise the er****on of, a new Scout Centre for 1st Henfield Sco

ut Group. Already £30,000 has been raised by various fund-raising activities, plans have been drawn, Planning Approval has been granted and we are ready to start work erecting the new Henfield Scout Centre. But... £120,000 is still needed, please help us reach our Target by donating generously and preserving a part of Scouting history

After making brilliant progress over the past few weeks, we are having to temporarily stop all paid work as funds are very low and we have some bills yet to pay.
A kind benefactor has offered a £30,000 bridging loan, but as we already have loans of £31,000 another loan would present an unacceptable burden and increase our hire rates.
We will have to utilise volunteer labour for installing the Rainwater Harvesting system, slab path, car park and some interior work until hopefully more grant money and possibly donations come in.

Hooray, we're finally getting there.... the carpenters are commencing work today on constructing all the interior stud walls. Then we can get the 1st fix electrics done and the air source heat pumps installed for the underfloor heating. Then 30th June should see 60 PV solar panels fitted and the electrics up and running.
Now to get the paving laid and he spoil levelled, before it rains all summer as it did in 2024.
I'm still looking for a plumber who is willing to work on a mate's rate day-rate... anyone out there???
