every year, and with over 8.4 million people living in poverty, something needs to be done.

ITS NOT TO LATE TO STILL SPONSOR MARTHA 🙏🙏

Thank you to everyone who has sponsored Martha so far, you have all been amazing. She still has a few more to do but she’s achieved her goal so far and created a crochet vegetable or fruit everyday since 1st April.
All proceeds going to the Hemyock Fridge & Larder so we can continue to help save food from landfill and help all the residents of the Hemyock Community in the process.

Thank you to everyone who made Sunday 1st December a success.

To all the lovely sellers and to all the fabulous buyers..

We have raised £180.76 for the Hemyock Community fridge/larder that’s an incredible amount and it’s all down to you guys.
It will be put to very good use and enable them to carry on the great work in supporting the community and most importantly saving food from landfill .

On behalf of Lizzie Biggs Soph Ann and my self Lucy Richards we thank you all again you’re an amazing community. 🙏❤️💜

Advent Boxes

We have had our first advent box delivered this week ❤️ We collect donations for the larder throughout the year. These non-perishable items are put out each day to help those in our community who may be struggling financially. These donations are generally non-perishable.

If you would like to donate, but can’t afford to do an advent box, please feel free to pop an item or 2 in our Christmas box, which you will find by the front door 😊

The perishable surplus food we get daily from supermarkets/shops/restaurants are for everyone and would go to landfill. The non-perishable/tins/toiletries etc are donated/bought to help local families/households who need some extra help.

AVAILABLE TO PICK UP TODAY MONDAY 18TH NOVEMBER FROM THE CENTRE.
Advent Calendars are a staple in households across the world looking to celebrate the season throughout the entire month of December.
This year, we've put together a Reverse Advent Calendar – where instead of receiving a small treat each day, we ask you kindly to add an item each day to your Advent Box.

Participating is super easy:
1. Grab an empty box and a sheet of paper.
2. Write each day of December on the sheet of paper, and palace the listed food items in the box. And mark off as you put into the box.
3. Each day of the month progresses watch your box fill up.
4. Once your box is full of donations pop in and visit us at The Blackdown Healthy Living Centre Hemyock EX15 3SH and donate your advent items!

WHEN TO DO YOUR REVERSE ADVENT CALENDAR.
Traditionally of course advent calendars start on the 1st December and this makes for a really thoughtful Christmas time project.
However, many food Fridges/Larders begin their festive season early so do consider running your Reverse Advent Calendar in November if you’d like to include a festive treat or two.

Regardless, a donation just before Christmas will certainly enable Hemyock Community Fridge/Larder to continue helping into the new year.

CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR CLOSURES.
The Hemyock Community Fridge/Larder will be closed from the 23rd December 2024 and will re open on the 6th January 2025.
