It was an epic opening day of this season’s Cambridgeshire Junior League at Hunts County Squash Club on Sunday 💥

After the first round of matches, the Gorillas find themselves in primate position at the top of the table, leading by just a single point 🦍

The Wolves are stalking them closely in second place, with the Tigers and Sharks also in close pursuit. The Bears will be hoping to end their hibernation and use their matches in hand to catch up with the pack in the next round.

Player of the round goes to the Bear’s Louis Crothall, giving absolutely everything on his league debut and running through walls for his team 💪😅

Next stop is in December…

Fantastic weekend at HCSC for the Total Access Solutions County Closed Championships 🏆

Open Doubles
Four-time consecutive champions Chris Reeve & Dan Soar faced off against Rob Dadds & Chris Shaw. It was looking on for their 5th win at 2/0 up, however, an epic comeback ensued with Dadds & Shaw levelling, before taking their first title 12-10 in the 5th.

Mixed Doubles: Sarah-Jane Hilton & Grant Bryant first time playing with each other couldn’t have gone any better as they came through an epic 5 setter against Lizzie Kilsby & Simon Scott to claim the title.

Women’s Doubles: A fantastic result for mother-and-daughter pairing Sarah-Jane & Lucy Hilton, who combined brilliantly to defeat favourites Carol Hargreaves & Lizzie Kilsby in a closely fought 3-1 battle.

Over 50’s Doubles: The experienced pairing of Jason Monk & John Williams proved too strong for Marcus Lattimer & John Mitchley, with a 3-0 victory between four experienced campaigners.

Racketball Open: Mark Davis produced a dominant performance to take the title, defeating John Dewis in the final. Marco Pita enjoyed a successful first racketball competition, finishing as Plate Winner.

Women’s Racketball: There was great representation from City of Peterborough Squash Club, with Vickey Soar defeating fellow club member Dee Millington 3-0 to claim the Women’s Singles title.

Over 50’s Racketball: Mark Davis completed a superb weekend by adding the Over 50’s Racketball title to his Open Singles success. Jason Monk finished Runner-Up after another strong showing.

Racketball Doubles: The weekend finished with an epic battle as Colin Griggs & Asa Morris eventually overcame Jason Monk & Marco Pita 3-2 in a thrilling contest.

A huge thanks to Total Access Solutions for generously supporting the event, providing the T-shirts from Mitsa Limited and trophies from Inscribed Design .

Thanks also to everyone who took part and look forward to seeing everyone again next time!

- Sunday 20th December - Comberton Squash Club
- Sunday 14th March - City of Peterborough Squash Club
- Sunday 23rd May - Hunts County Squash Club

The cost is £45/player, which includes all of the fixtures, a team t-shirt and a water bottle.
