We’re proud to celebrate the fantastic work of 1st Peninsula Explorers as part of their Community Impact Award 🙌

Working alongside Royal British Legion Scotland, they’ve been helping to maintain the Cove & Kilcreggan War Memorial and improve the surrounding area - supporting an important space of remembrance for the community.

A brilliant effort by all involved!

5th Dumbarton Cubs had a fantastic evening visiting the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Dumbarton Station 🚒

The Cubs learned all about the vital work our local firefighters do, explored their equipment, and picked up some really important safety tips.

A big thank you to the team at the station for giving them such a warm welcome and an unforgettable experience!

– Did you know that Scouting has always been powered by volunteers? 🙌⚜️

From its very beginning in 1907, Scouting has relied on dedicated volunteers giving their time, skills, and energy to help young people grow and succeed. That hasn’t changed! Here in Dunbartonshire, we’re proud to have 12 Groups, all run by volunteers who create opportunities for hundreds of young people every week. From adventures outdoors to learning new skills and making lifelong friendships, it simply wouldn’t happen without them.

As we head into Volunteers’ Week, it’s the perfect time to say a huge thank you to everyone who gives their time to Scouting – past and present 💚

But we also need your help…all 12 of our Groups are currently looking for new volunteers!

Whether you can help every week, once a month, or behind the scenes, there’s a role for you - and full support is provided. You don’t need any prior experience, just a willingness to get stuck in and make a difference.

Could you help create a place to belong for young people in your community? Get in touch to find out more or start your journey today!

– Three strategies, one clear purpose: helping young people thrive ⚜️

This year marks the launch of our brand new UK-wide strategy - Place to Belong (2026–2035).

For more than the past decade, Scouting has been shaped by two key strategies:

Scouting for All (2014–2018) opened up Scouting to more young people and made the movement more inclusive.

Skills for Life (2018–2025) helped us grow, become more youth-shaped, and make a bigger impact in our communities - all while preparing young people with the skills they need for life.

Now, we’re stepping into our next chapter with Place to Belong - focused on what matters most today. 💚

✨ Creating welcoming, inclusive spaces for every young person

🤝 Supporting volunteers to deliver brilliant, adventurous programmes

🌱 Empowering young people to grow, lead, and make a difference

It keeps young people at the heart of everything we do - making sure Scouts remains a place where they feel safe, heard, and inspired.

Here in Dunbartonshire, we’re proud to be part of that journey - helping young people find their place, build confidence, and make friendships that last a lifetime. 🙌

Here’s to the future of Scouting - and making sure everyone has a place to belong. 🥳

Sixth Clydebank-scouts are getting survival-ready! As part of their upcoming camp at the end of the month, their Scouts are stepping up to tackle elements of the Survival Skills Activity Badge 🏕️

Recently they’ve been busy developing essential outdoor skills - including building emergency shelters, with a key focus on mastering techniques like the sheer lashing 🪢

Next week’s session will see them taking on water collection and filtration. Great to see the teamwork as they prepare for camp 👏

5th Dumbarton Cubs have been getting hands-on this week, learning all about fire safety and trying their hand at backwoods cooking. From understanding how to stay safe around flames to cooking outdoors, it’s been a great mix of practical skills and adventure!

We love seeing the amazing things our groups get up to across Dunbartonshire 👏
