Explorers from 1st Glen Lusset, 1st Cardross and 1st Helensburgh recently enjoyed a fantastic visit to Barclays UK Eagle Labs in Glasgow.

The Explorers heard from three entrepreneurs, learning about their experiences and ideas, before getting a tour of the facility.

Thank you to Barclays for a great evening.

– What does “Be Prepared” actually mean?

You may have heard our Scout motto is “Be Prepared”, but what does that actually mean? ⚜️

It’s about much more than remembering to pack the right kit! 🎒 Being prepared is about being ready for whatever comes your way, whether that’s dealing with something unexpected, helping someone who needs it or having the confidence to take on a new challenge.

Whether it’s first aid, navigation, teamwork or problem solving, young people get plenty of opportunities to put “Be Prepared” into practice through Scouting.

So next time you hear “Be Prepared”, remember, it’s not just about what’s in your backpack!

🎉 – Did you know that games are one of the most important tools used in Scouting? 🎲⚜️

While games are great fun, they're about much more than just keeping young people entertained. Every week, Scouts take part in activities designed to develop teamwork, communication, leadership, resilience and problem-solving skills.

Whether it's a challenge game in the hall, a team-building activity at camp, or a race against the clock, young people are learning valuable skills while having fun with their friends.

From Squirrels and Beavers through to Cubs, Scouts, Explorers even Network! Scouting helps young people build confidence and develop skills for life, often without even realising they're doing it! 💚

🎉 - Did you know girls have been involved in Scouting for over a century? ⚜️

Although Scouting began primarily for boys, girls were taking part from the movement's earliest days. Their enthusiasm and determination helped shape the future of Scouting, and today Scouts is fully co-educational.

Across Dunbartonshire and around the world, girls and young women take part in adventures, learn new skills, build confidence, develop leadership skills and make lifelong friendships through Scouting.

From Squirrels and Beavers to Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Network, Scouting offers opportunities for everyone to grow, challenge themselves and have fun along the way. 💚

On this day, we remember the lives lost and all those affected by the events of 11th of September 2001.

In times of tragedy, we often see the very best of humanity shine through. Thousands of emergency responders, volunteers and ordinary people stepped forward to help others, showing extraordinary courage, selflessness and resilience.

These are values that Scouting encourages every day: helping other people, supporting our communities and being prepared to make a positive difference when it matters most.

Today, we take a moment to remember those who lost their lives, honour those who helped, and reflect on the importance of kindness, service and unity. ❤️

We'd like to give a warm welcome to Sam and Amy, who have stepped into the shared role of District Youth Leads!

Passionate about empowering young people and helping shape the future of Scouting, Sam and Amy will be working together to ensure youth voices are at the heart of everything we do across the District.

Their role will focus on supporting youth-shaped Scouting, encouraging young people to share their views, develop leadership skills, and play an active part in shaping activities, events, and decisions.
