What a wonderful day our members had yesterday at Glasgow Botanical gardens and Kibble Palace, the weather was questionable but the venue and company certainly wasn't. Such a lovely peaceful place to spend the day with your friends, a spot of lunch and some fresh air.

What a wonderful Easter Brunch we had at the end of March. Thank you to Rowena Japp the NHS GP Primary Care Manager for visiting us and presenting some chocolate to the winners of our Easter bonnet competition. As usual our kitchen, servers, trustees and staff went above and beyond for an enjoyable occasion.

We have been sent lots of information from Lee, who is the Veterans Peer Facilitator with Thistle Foundation.

Thistle’s Support for the Veteran community project sits within our Health and Wellbeing supported self-management service. We offer veterans and their families - who may be living with long term health conditions and/or difficult life circumstances - face to face (in our Centre of Wellbeing) or remote support to:

· Explore their best hopes, the things they would like to see be better of different. What they would like to see “instead of” the struggles they are facing now.

· 1-1 wellbeing coaching – exploring what is already working, what they notice has worked and need to restart and/or layering in new self-management tools/techniques to better cope.

· Lifestyle Management Course – a 10-week course using the same philosophy as above, covering topics including stress management, assertive communication and understanding our triggers; as well as graded exercise and relaxation practices. We are hoping to run another one of these courses starting in the summer, I have attached a leaflet and flyer for your information.

We are planning to run a Lifestyle Management course for Veterans and their families. Dates and venue TBC.

If you’re supporting anyone that may be interested in hearing more about these supports you can contact, [email protected] or make a referral to [email protected]
