Anyone fancy joining Hednesford Community Speed Watch as volunteer?

Do you want to help us make the roads of Staffordshire safer? 🛣️

If you have 30 minutes a week/month spare then why not consider volunteering with Speed Watch? ⌚

Community Speed Watch (CSW) is a national initiative where, in partnership with the police, members of communities use detection devices to monitor local vehicle speeds. The volunteers report drivers exceeding the speed limit to the police with the aim of educating drivers to slow down. 🦺

If the data proves a driver is ignoring repeated warnings police can prosecute them. The aim is to:

⚠️ reduce fatalities and injury on the roads

⚠️ improve the quality of life for local communities

⚠️ reduce the speed of vehicles to the speed limit

⚠️ increase public awareness of inappropriate speed

As a volunteer you will receive training as well as ongoing support from your local Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) 🚔

Hednesford Community Speed Watch team were out this morning on Bradbury Lane.

In the hour we were there, out of the 258 vehicles counted, 7 were recorded for speeding. The highest speed recorded was 41mph.

Details of these vehicles will now be passed on to Staffordshire Police Community Speed Watch at Police HQ and the registered keepers will receive a letter in the post to make them aware of the dangers of driving too fast.
