Born at a very early age...............

Reference was made to the HB&DOPWC in 1916 in a book of Calder Valley Poets. If you think the name of our committee is both long winded and awkward, you will be pleased to see that it as least an improvement on its original title of The Old Peoples Treats Society!

Its constitution is to look after the welfare of our older generations, and today we all appreciate that 70 is the new 50, and most people are fit, healthy and leading full and active lives and would not take kindly to being called an ‘old person’ . However, we have interpreted it in today’s world to mean providing an interesting and varied range of events to help people stay well, and enjoy life to the full. In other words, provide a series of events that encourages people to mix with other generations, learn something new and be entertained in the process.
