Today, was a remarkable day, for the first time since the Covid era. We seen a glimmer of the past, when our young people had opportunities to socialise, show talent and be themselves doing something they love.

We appreciate people may see they are not in Sea Cadet uniform and that was deliberate, it wasn’t meant to be, however, our Sea Cadets chose the ties.

That signifies Pride in themselves and they certainly did at Pride in Hebburn they led, they played outstanding music, best behaviour and wowed the crowds even with a a couple missing they nailed it. We are soooo proud of you.

Today marks the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day Landings (6 June 1944) — a pivotal moment in the Second World War and the largest amphibious operation in history. We remember the courage and sacrifice of all who took part, including the 17,500+ Royal Marines involved.

Today marks the 82nd anniversary of the D Day Landings.

D Day, 6 June 1944, marked the start of the Allied invasion of Normandy, the greatest amphibious operation in history. Codenamed Overlord, this vast cross-Channel attack enabled the United Kingdom, the United States and their allies to land substantial forces on mainland Europe during the Second World War.

D Day was the largest single commitment of Royal Marines in history, with over 17,500 RM taking part.

D Day was a pivotal point in the Second World War and that is the reason it is one of the Corps Memorable Dates.

We are incredibly proud to announce that Hebburn Sea Cadets were recognised at the Love South Tyneside Awards, a fantastic achievement that reflects the dedication, commitment and hard work of our amazing cadets and volunteers.

And what better way to celebrate Volunteers’ Week than by recognising the incredible people who give up their time, energy and expertise to support young people in our community. This award is a tribute to every volunteer who helps make Hebburn Sea Cadets the thriving, supportive and inspiring organisation it is today.

From delivering training and activities to mentoring cadets and supporting events, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Their commitment helps young people develop confidence, leadership, teamwork and life skills that will stay with them for years to come.

To every cadet, volunteer, parent and supporter who has contributed to our success – thank you. This recognition belongs to all of you.

We are honoured to represent Hebburn and South Tyneside and look forward to continuing to provide opportunities for young people to learn, grow and achieve.

Congratulations to everyone involved – this is a proud moment for our entire Sea Cadet family. ⚓

We'd like to give a massive shoutout and thanks to all the volunteers who make TS Kelly possible. From the uniformed volunteers on deck every parade night, running courses and looking after our young people to the unit management team who beaver away in the background finding funding, working on engagement, making the big decisions and keep all the finances up to date. We couldn't do what we do for the young people of Hebburn without us all pulling together as one. Thank you!

🎉 Big news — the government has announced the first ever National Cadets Week, taking place 5–11 October 2026!

Cadet units across the UK will be opening their doors to schools, families and local communities to celebrate everything that makes the cadet experience so special.
