A very proud moment for our team at Wealden Works! We were recently featured in The Times, sharing our views on the growing issue of NEET unemployment and the impact it’s having on young people across the UK. Wealden Works being recognised as a voice in this important national conversation is a great achievement for us. It also highlights the importance of the work we do every day to support young people in building confidence, developing skills, and accessing opportunities that can positively shape their futures.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our recent Wealden Works Bingo Night!⁣
⁣
It was a brilliant evening full of laughs, great company and amazing community spirit, all while raising an incredible £460 for Wealden Works and the young people we support.⁣
⁣
Events like these are so important to us, not just for the funds raised, but for bringing people together and supporting the work we do within our community. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, donated prizes, supported and played their part in making the evening such a success.⁣

𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗛 & 𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗕𝗘𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗣⁣
⁣
At Wealden Works, we know that being ready for employment is about more than qualifications and work experience. It also includes vital areas such as health and wellbeing.⁣
⁣
During a recent Health & Wellbeing session, Phil encouraged our young people to explore the wider factors that support success in both work and everyday life, including the importance of a balanced diet, physical activity, quality sleep, and restorative habits.⁣
⁣
There were some excellent discussions around mental and emotional wellbeing, the importance of prioritising self-care, and how healthy routines can positively impact confidence, resilience, and long-term success.⁣
⁣
Phil also led a valuable conversation around work–life balance and personal fulfilment, helping young people reflect on how to build healthy, sustainable lifestyles as they prepare to enter employment.⁣
⁣
To finish the session, our young people followed instructions to make their own healthy granola bars. A simple snack recipe they can continue to make and enjoy in the future.⁣

𝗪𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗗𝗘𝗡 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗦 𝗢𝗡 𝗚𝗕 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦⁣

Huge recognition for Lisa and Tora from Wealden Works yesterday, who were invited onto GB News to discuss Britain’s growing youth unemployment crisis and the barriers many young people are facing when trying to access work and opportunities.⁣
⁣
The discussion highlighted the increasing number of young people who are currently NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), and the importance of programmes that provide real support, guidance, confidence and pathways into employment.⁣
⁣
We’re incredibly proud of the work Lisa, Tora and the wider team continue to do across Wealden, supporting young people through free employability programmes, workshops, mentoring and business partnerships that genuinely change lives.⁣

We were delighted to welcome Esther from ESTAR to deliver two of her Confidence Box workshops with our young people.⁣
⁣
These sessions are incredibly valuable, as many of the young people we support tell us they struggle with confidence, particularly when preparing for employment and future opportunities.⁣
⁣
Through engaging activities and open discussions, Esther explored a range of topics around self-confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment. The workshops gave our young people practical strategies and advice to help build self-belief, communicate more confidently, and recognise their own strengths and potential.⁣
⁣
Creating opportunities like this is vital in helping young people feel more prepared, empowered, and positive as they take their next steps towards employment and independent futures.⁣

⁣
A huge thank you to Rachel at Balfour Beatty in Ringmer for welcoming our young people today and providing such an engaging and insightful visit.⁣
⁣
The group had the opportunity to tour the offices, explore different departments, and speak with staff across a wide range of roles. It gave our young people a real insight into the different career paths available within the construction and infrastructure sector, as well as what day-to-day work can look like across the business.⁣
⁣
Hearing directly from staff about their own journeys, experiences, and routes into employment helped to highlight the many opportunities available, from apprenticeships and project management to operational and office-based roles.⁣
⁣
Visits like these are incredibly valuable for our young people, particularly those currently not in education, employment or training, helping to build confidence, broaden horizons, and create meaningful connections with employers and industries they may not otherwise have access to.⁣
⁣
We’re incredibly grateful for the time, knowledge, and inspiration shared by the team at Balfour Beatty. The visit made a lasting impression on everyone involved and has given our young people plenty to think about as they consider their own future pathways.⁣
