🎉𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒚𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑾𝒆𝒆𝒌 🎉

To celebrate Youth Employment Week, we want to give a huge shout-out to Group 30 of Wealden Works, who have successfully graduated from our 6-week employability course! 👏 With a full cohort, we saw 𝟭𝟮 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 complete the programme, and we couldn’t be prouder of the commitment, determination and go-getting attitude they have shown throughout. 💪

Each young person leaves Wealden Works with a folder packed with useful advice, important information and a checklist to support them on their employment journey. 📁✨ But more importantly, they leave with greater confidence, new skills and a clearer idea of where they want to go next.

We also wanted to give a special shout-out to two of our participants who have secured employment while with Wealden Works!🙌

🔨 𝑱𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒑𝒉 has secured himself a carpentry apprenticeship and, as if that wasn’t enough, has also passed his driving test! 🚗 Life is certainly looking very different from six weeks ago!

👏 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒍 secured employment following a successful meeting with an employer and is now looking forward to starting his journey into full-time employment. Alongside this, he has also signed up for volunteering, giving him the opportunity to build valuable experience while pursuing his interests.

A massive well done to you both, what fantastic achievements! 🎉

With A-Level results pending, interviews lined up and opportunities on the horizon, we’re expecting to see some big things from this group.

We’re incredibly proud of every single one of them and we can’t wait to see where their journeys take them!🚀Well done, Group 30! 🧡

🎤 𝑴𝒐𝒄𝒌 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘𝒔 𝒂𝒕 𝑾𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔!

This week, our young people took part in one of the highlights of the Wealden Works programme - Mock Interviews.

After six weeks of preparation, we create a realistic interview experience, complete with formal interview invitations tailored to each young person's chosen industry, a professional interview setting, and live feedback. It's a fantastic opportunity for participants to build confidence, practise their interview skills, and gain valuable experience before attending interviews in the real world.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to John Young, former BBC News Presenter, and our Board Member, Sally Frost, Director of Newton and Frost Fencing, for generously giving their time to support our mock interviews. Their encouragement, professionalism and constructive feedback make a lasting impact, helping our young people grow in confidence and prepare for future employment opportunities.

We're incredibly proud of everyone who stepped outside their comfort zone and gave it their all. Every interview is another step closer to employment! 👏💼

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝑾𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑺𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒔 𝑯𝒖𝒃! ⚽️

This morning, our young people had the fantastic opportunity to take a guided tour of the brand-new Hub and learn more about the vision behind this exciting new space.

It was great to see the thought that has gone into the design, find out about the activities on offer, and discover what the Hub will bring to the local community. We also heard about potential employment opportunities, helping our young people see the career possibilities available right on their doorstep.

A huge thank you to the Leisure United team for welcoming us and showing us around. We can't wait to see the Hub come to life! 🙌

✨ What a busy week it’s been for Wealden Works! ✨

This week, we welcomed Howie from 28thStreetMedia, who joined us to capture the heart of Wealden Works and showcase the work we do to support young people in our community. 🎥

As part of the filming, we headed out into the community to catch up with some of our past participants, who have gone on to secure employment with the support of Wealden Works. It was fantastic to hear about their journeys and see the real impact of the work we do. 🙌

Mel shared a wealth of knowledge, giving our young people a fantastic insight into the world of apprenticeships, the opportunities available, and the many different career pathways they can lead to. It was a session packed with valuable information, practical advice, and encouragement to help our young people explore their future options with confidence.

A huge thank you to Mel for taking the time to support and inspire our young people. Your enthusiasm and expertise have given them plenty to think about as they take their next steps towards employment and further training!

HOW TO NAIL YOUR INTERVIEW 🤝🏽

This week Wealden Works welcomed back John Young, former BBC News Presenter for another fantastic "How To Nail Your Interview" masterclass!

John shared practical interview tips, techniques and confidence building advice to help our young people prepare for future opportunities. His engaging approach encourages everyone to step outside their comfort zone, recognise their strengths and believe in what they have to offer.

We couldn't be prouder of our young people for embracing the workshop, taking part with enthusiasm and showing the confidence to challenge themselves.

We are incredibly grateful to John for his continued support and commitment to inspiring the next generation.

The future is full of opportunity and this is just the beginning 🧡

Thanks to National Lottery funding, Wealden Works is expanding, and we're looking for a passionate Youth Workshop Facilitator to join our team!

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to support young people aged 16–24 across the Wealden area who are not currently in education, employment or training (NEET). You will work one-to-one and in groups, delivering tailored coaching, skills workshops, work placements and practical support to help them move into work, training, or further education.

At Wealden Works, we're a local charity dedicated to bridging the gap between education and employment. We work closely with local businesses and partner organisations to give young people the support, opportunities and encouragement they need to achieve their goals.

We're looking for someone who has experience working with young people, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate others. A good understanding of employment, training and education pathways is important, along with a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as you'll be working across the Wealden area. Experience delivering workshops is desirable but not essential.

You'll be joining a small, friendly and supportive team where your work will make a real and lasting difference to young people's lives. Every day brings new challenges, new opportunities and the chance to help someone realise their potential.
