Another NHS Funding Casualty
I.M.P.S. 1994–2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of I.M.P.S. (Injury Minimization Programme for Schools).
This follows the decision by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to end the service due to the absence of a sustainable long-term funding solution. Despite our tireless efforts to secure the future of the programme, including exploring alternative departments to host the service and seeking potential funding solutions, we have been unable to prevent this
outcome.
For more than 30 years, I.M.P.S. has delivered vital injury prevention education and Basic Life Support (BLS) training to over 115,000 Year 6 pupils across Oxfordshire primary schools, helping generations of children to stay safe and respond confidently in emergencies.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the many supporters who have raised funds for the programme over the years. Any remaining funds will be used by Oxford Hospitals Charity
(OHC) to support projects benefiting children's services.
We would also like to thank the schools, teachers, and healthcare professionals who have helped make the programme such a success. It has been a privilege to work with so many young
people and play a part in their education and wellbeing.
While we are deeply saddened that this remarkable programme has come to an end, we hope that the knowledge and skills shared through I.M.P.S. will continue to help children stay safe,
prevent accidents, and save lives for years to come.
With thanks,
The I.M.P.S. Team
