Homes with Purpose

Today I went to visit one of the families living in one of the Homes with Purpose houses. One of the joys of hosting an Afghan family is getting to experience their wonderful hospitality and cooking!

The family (3 children, 4th on the way) have a lot of washing to do, but have limited space in the house to dry the clothes. And drying them in the kids rooms is far from ideal. They would really benefit from a tumble dryer.

If you have a tumble dryer you could donate (or money to help buy one), let me know. The family would be super grateful!

Proud day for us as we welcomed in an Afghan family to one of our houses.
The family have spent the last 12 months living in a hotel after fleeing Afghanistan. Tonight the kids are arguing over who gets top bunk and they'll cook in a kitchen for the first time in a year.

So grateful to everyone who's been a part of this adventure!!

Huge THANK YOU to Sarah, Luke, Chris, Caroline, Elaine and Matt from Emmanuel Church who spent their weekends tidying the gardens at the two houses lenders have bought for Afghan refugee families, ready for them to move into this month.

Last week we got the key for our 4th house. Refurb/decorating work has begun and we're looking forward to welcoming an Afghan refugee family in a few months!

We now have keys for house number 3!

Now the work begins with contractors to move a wall and get the house ready for an Afghan refugee family.

And house number 4 is only a few weeks behind!

We are so grateful to all of our lenders and donors for making this possible. With 11,500 Afghans still stuck in hotels, it's wonderful that we can play a part in giving two families the opportunity to build their new life here in Oxford.

12,000 Afghans still living in UK hotels. We must speed up their housing and rebuilding of lives.

We get the keys for the next 2 houses next month, lenders providing homes for two Afghan families on the same road.

As war in Ukraine creates millions of new refugees, many people airlifted to safety from Kabul last summer are still stuck in UK hotels. We spent six months following three families as they adjust to life in their new home

Exciting times, we've got one bid submitted on a house and another bid being prepared for a house ... on the same road!

That means each Afghan family moving into one of the houses, will have another family a few doors up going through the same situation!

We're a little short on the total funds needed but we've seen amazing things happen before so trusting God for that!

Paid the first interest to the lenders on our Barton houses today (due every 6 months).
Tonight, 6 people who'd otherwise be homeless are sleeping in a beautiful home thanks to these wonderful people

Thrilled that it looks like we have enough funds to buy a house .. without needing the bank!
Our goal is to buy a house and see an Afghan family move in by Christmas.
