Today, 24th August, we join our Ukrainian friends in marking Ukraine’s Independence Day — a day that holds more weight and meaning now than ever before.

Here in the UK, we stand alongside our local Ukrainian communities, many of whom have shown extraordinary courage in leaving behind their homes, families and lives to seek safety. We also hold in our hearts those who remain in Ukraine, defending their freedom and independence in the face of unimaginable hardship.

This day is not only about independence, but also about resilience, unity and hope. The spirit of Ukraine lives on in every family who continues to adapt and rebuild, in every act of kindness from those offering support, and in the unwavering determination of those on the frontlines.

On behalf of everyone at Bridge to Unity, we want our Ukrainian friends to know: you are not alone. We see you, we honour you, and we will continue to walk alongside you for as long as you need.

We stand together.

Today marks three years since Putin attempted to take Ukraine, and therefore it's three years that the Ukrainian people have been bravely defending their country from the authoritarian dictatorship Putin and his friends (and that includes his pet, Donald Trump) want to impose.

Locally we've welcomed Ukrainians to our bit of England and I've been genuinely touched by just how united we Brits have been in standing with our Ukrainian friends. I'm proud that so many now feel they are a real part of our community.

But now we're at a turning point.

This is not "only" a war for Ukraine. This defines the world we all live in for generations to come. This is about the future we want our kids and grandkids to have. Do you want them to be free to live their lives without the stench of authoritarianism always looking over their shoulder?

We need real action. Let's use the circa £5bn in frozen Russian assets held by the UK to give Ukraine the support it needs. And if we unite with our European allies, that figure is £40bn. It's essential free money we can take away from Putin and use against him. Why wouldn't we?

So today, on this third anniversary, our resolve to stand with Ukraine is stronger than ever. We do not betray our friends, especially when they're fighting for fundamental freedoms we all hold dear.

Our Christmas gifts have arrived!

We are so, so happy to let you all know that your donations have arrived at the orphanage and the children are over the moon!

Together, as a community, we've helped another little community which really needs the help. That's what Christmas is about. Please remember though that helping orphans isn't just for Christmas.
