The North Weir Trust Hay A charitable organisation providing financial grants for educational endeavours within a 10 mile radius of Hay-on-Wye. Registered Charity No. 1058757.

The NW Trust Hay was created in 1996 by Vera North and Betty Weir. It was formed for the benefit of the community of Hay-on-Wye, and those living within a 10 mile radius of the town clock. It provides financial assistance to those wishing to undertake projects at home, or abroad, that will either advance their education or extend their professional expertise through voluntary work. Work, courses,

projects or study may be undertaken individually or as a member of an approved group. There have been many applications during the years and the Trustees have always been impressed by the diversity of projects undertaken.

Some of our trustees enjoyed interviewing 6 young people finding out more about their applications for funds to support their various trips and educational experiences. All 6 were awarded funding towards their activities which include: a sport and cultural trip to South Africa, participation in the 2027 international Scout Jamboree in Poland and a school winter trip to Austria.

2026 has started well for the North Weir Trust. So far we have received applications from: 3 teenagers to support an educational and charity based trip to South Africa, a local forest school to support volunteer engagement and knowledge and finally a local primary school to support love of reading.

Some lovely feedback from one of our award recipients:
Thank you to the North Weir Charitable Trust whose funding is helping me to do a facilitation course in The Work That Reconnects - groupwork that allows us to recover the connections that have been severed by modern society, the connection to every living being, to each other and to ourselves.
I am really grateful to the Trust for their support.

This week trustees have enjoyed interviewing 2 great young people who applied for funding to support a new learning experience. Cressida is furthering her knowledge of the reconnection movement. Imogen is busy find raising for a once in a lifetime sport and volunteering trip to South Africa in the summer of 2027. Both have received contributions to their course/trip.
If your school/youth group/college/university is running an activity that you would love to get involved with but cant afford then consider applying for some support. Either check the website, send an email or message us.
