Wilton Lodge Park parkrun run report 27

A chilly but stunning morning for event 27. We chipped the ice off the benches and laid out the kit for our lovely volunteers. As usual I wondered if anyone would show up to run but suddenly it was busy with a mix of locals and visitors. We welcomed folk from Dunfermline, Girvan, County Durham, Newcastle, Sunderland, Whitley Bay and Poole in Dorset. Congratulations to Lesley Hamblett from Girvan who was celebrating her 75 parkrun! It was great to have 13 first time parkrunners and to see Ilona from the core team run for the first time. The volunteers at the finish funnel have a little game trying to guess the number of participants and winner this week was Kevin Currie with 132 - oh so close to the actual number of 134. We love seeing you cross the finish line and it is gratifying that so many people comment what a beautiful park we have. A big thank you to everyone who helped. See you next week!

The rain stayed away for our 92 finishers and 18 volunteers. We had 6 first timers and 14 people snagged a PB! Well done! All out tokens were present and correct - thank you everyone, including one that has gone on an exciting trip last week and was kindly posted back first class to reach us in time.

An extra big shout out to our amazing volunteers and runners. 92 people joined us this morning. We had an incident and it was wonderful to see our parkrun community being its amazing self! A massive thank you to Ali and Fran who stayed super calm, and to every one who stopped to check that everything was ok or offer support. It really is what Parkrun is all about.

Hoping that we will miss the rain tomorrow morning. See you at 9.20 for the briefing and then start at 9.30. Thank you, as ever, to our wonderful volunteers who make it possible.

Well done to all the parkrunners and volunteers today. Sadly we lost token 77 and Susan lost an ear-ring. If you find either let us know. Thanks!

Can you help on Saturday? We are still looking for 2 timekeepers and filling those roles is vital for us to be able to go ahead. You’d need the parkrun volunteer app on your phone but it is straightforward. See how happy these timers are!

Alternatively, if you fancy handing out finish tokens or helping out at the funnel we could do a bit of swapping about.

Message us here or email us [email protected] if you can help.
