The deadline for registering to vote for the upcoming Scottish Parliament election is midnight on Monday 20 April 2026. You can register to vote here 👉https://www.mygov.scot/vote-elections-scotland/register-to-vote
📫Postal Vote
For your safety, you can also apply for a postal vote by 5pm on Tuesday 21 April 2026. See postal vote application details on the Electoral Commission UK website here 👉 https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/ways-vote/apply-vote-post
👁️🗨️Voting Anonymously
If your details being on the electoral register might put your safety at risk, you can register anonymously so that your details, including your address, are not publicly available.
To register your vote anonymously, you will need to:
•Download and complete the application form
•Explain why your safety, or the safety of another person in your house, would be at risk
•Provide evidence to support your application
•Return your application form, explanation and evidence to your local electoral registration office.
Once you are registered, your electoral registration office will not disclose your details to anyone, unless they are legally required to. Anonymous registration only lasts for one year, so you must reapply each year. Your electoral registration office will contact you when it is time for you to reapply.
You must still register to vote by midnight on Monday 20 April. See more details here, including the application form 👉 https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/register-vote/register-vote-anonymously
🗳️Voting in Person
You do not need to show photo ID or an Anonymous Elector’s Document to vote at the Scottish Parliament election on Thursday 7 May. These are only required for UK Parliament General Elections.
If you are an anonymous voter, please remember to bring your poll card to the polling station. You will not be able to vote without this.
If you have not received your poll card or believe you have lost it, please contact your local council as soon as possible for a replacement.
