Hawick Active Schools

Hawick Active Schools Now in 2016, the Active Schools Network is a team of people working within the school and the wider community in Scotland.

Active Schools works with schools and communities to ensure all children and young people are given the motivation and opportunities to ‘get active’ and stay active The origins of Active Schools can be found in two sportscotland initiatives which were put in place in the 1990s, both designed to help get Scotland’s pupils more active; the School Sport Coordinator Programme and The Active Primary Sc

hool Pilot Programme. Together our goal is to offer all children and young people the motivation and opportunities to ‘get active’ ensuring there are more and higher quality opportunities for all children to participate in sport within schools and to increase capacity through the recruitment of a network of volunteers, who in turn deliver activity sessions in schools. In practice, this means that our job is to increase the number of opportunities for all children to get engaged in sport and also try to build bridges with sports clubs and other community organisations to give pupils a ‘pathway’ to continue their participation in sport outside of the school gates.

🏆 Cup Final:
Trinity 2-0 Stirches

And finally, thank you to all of our coaches, parent helpers and referees for giving up their time to make the event possible. These tournaments simply couldn’t happen without you all 👏⚽️

So proud of this S3 squad 💙🏑

The girls narrowly missed out on a place in the final last Friday—having a goalkeeper might have made the difference—but that doesn’t take away from how unbelievably they played. Their teamwork, attitude, and determination were outstanding from start to finish.

What makes it even more special is the commitment they’ve shown all year—never missing a session, training through the worst weather, and always eager to learn and improve.

Couldn’t be prouder as a coach. The perfect way to round off a fantastic year of hockey 👏✨

S1 Hockey Tournament – Saturday 21st March 🏑

A brilliant day of effort and progress from our S1 teams. The B team drew two games and were incredibly unlucky to lose the third with the last hit of the match. The A team battled hard, narrowly losing two and conceding a last-minute goal to draw their final game.

So proud of the teamwork, determination and the progress shown by all players — especially with so few games played this year. A great platform to build on for the future! 💪
