Make 2026 the year you find out if fostering is right for you.

Last year, 87% of people surveyed told us they felt confident they could foster. Yet 70% told us one of the biggest things holding them back was “lack of information.” That means many of you already believe you could make a difference in a child’s life – you just don’t feel you have the right information to move forward.

We want to change that.

There are hundreds of sites out there (including our own) that provide information but it is all generic and can be complex to navigate. However, we recognise that everyone’s circumstances are different, so we always encourage enquirers to have a chat with one of the team.

Our team offer friendly, informal chats where you can ask questions about fostering and your own circumstances – with no absolutely no pressure and no obligation. We won’t give you the hard sell. We simply help you decide what’s right for you.

We’re also launching online information sessions in 2026, making it even easier to get the answers that matter to you. More on that later!

Driving to work this morning, it struck me how many radio ads are shouting about Black Friday. We can’t exactly jump on that bandwagon for obvious reasons — but it did make me think about something far more important.

At this time of year, so many children in the care system don’t have a family to share their Christmas with. We’re seeing a heartbreaking number of referrals for young people who need a safe, caring home… and far too often, we have nowhere to place them because there simply aren’t enough carers.

Fostering isn’t one-size-fits-all. There are lots of different types of care you can offer, and we have schemes to fit all kinds of circumstances.

So if fostering has ever crossed your mind, even just a little, please reach out. We’re friendly, we don’t bite, and you might discover a type of fostering that fits perfectly into your life — while making an incredible difference to a young person who truly needs it.

💚 According to the Fostering Network, 60% of Foster Carers are considering leaving the role, due to lack of support, financial strain and emotional burnout.

✨ About the scheme

Looking after a child for no more than six weeks — and our emergency carers can confirm they’ve never been asked to go beyond that — is designed to give children stability during a difficult time, while also giving carers the chance to rest and recharge between children coming.

Carers receive £900 per child, per week (paid per night whilst in your home), as recognition of the commitment and care involved.

If so, we’d love to share something that might offer a bit more flexibility to your usual ways of working.

At Little Acorns Fostering, we’ve seen a rise in children needing somewhere safe at short notice, and we’re hoping to connect with experienced carers who feel they’re able to help when they can.
