Community Heartbeat Charity

Community Heartbeat Charity A national charity which provides life saving defibrillators and skills to local communities. In this CHT is unique in the UK.

We are delighted to be able to support communities with community defibrillation. The Community Heartbeat Trust charity was established in 2009 to provide a holistic service with a full Governance approach to community defibrillation. To date we have delivered over 7000 community projects and trained around 250,000 people in BLS and AED. CHT is committed to supporting Communities about placement o

f defibrillators in a holistic and resilient manner, along with a passion to full support to communities for the lifetime of the project. CHT are the chosen partner of BT to convert telephone kiosks, as well as major organisations such as the Rugby, County Cricket, SLCC, Bowls and others, along with over 1000 local councils and regional government organisations. CHT is independent of manufacturer and only presents equipment to communities that pass its independent testing as to its suitability for community use as well as safety, appliance to legislation and quality manufacture. No one selection of equipment suits all situations. CHT invented the term cPAD, which has been adopted nationwide to reflect community defibrillation, and was the very first to suggest and convert redundant telephone kiosks to defibrillator sites. CHT leads in the UK in the development of this important area. EBAY SHOP https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/comheartbeat

On behalf of the board of the Community Heartbeat Trust, many thanks to the British Coatings Federation for the invite to their Parliamentary Reception in the House of Commons on Tuesday as part of World Paint and Coatings Week. It was illuminating to hear from Tom Bowtell, CEO of the BCF (pictured) about their achievements and aspirations.

It was also good to hear from Industry Minister, Chris McDonald, and the Minister for Waste and Recycling, Mary Creagh. They appeared keen to learn more about the industry’s economic contribution and listened closely to BCF policy concerns over the growing burden of chemical regulations and the challenges slowing the national rollout of PaintCare.

Community Heartbeat is grateful for the donations and telephone box coatings sponsored by the BCF over recent years. We look forward to continuing this positive working relationship in 2026.

The CHT staff team has been praised for its first quarter achievements as the placement of public access defibrillators soars.

As the charity moves forward following its recent restructuring on December 1st 2025, the board of Trustees has praised the new CHT staff team led by Partnership and Training Manager Zoe Arrowsmith.

Charity Chair Ron Simpson BEM reports, "The new team inherited a significant back log of work at a time when the order book was growing and the supply chain for many products was stretched. In the space of three months Zoe and her team have made huge strides in improving customer service and modernising the organisation while updating our internal practices."

Speaking from the charity's new Conference and Training Room, Ron confirmed that the communication delays of late 2025 created partly by outdated practices and systems had now been substantially addressed with further improvement expected following the installation in mid 2026 of a new CRM system to help manage customer enquiries. An update of the charity's website is also planned for later in the year.

The charity reports that it is grateful for the patience and understanding of its customer base while all the necessary changes were being implemented. Partners, Customers and Suppliers will be receiving updated staff contact details soon. In the interim Zoe can be reached at [email protected] and Ron at [email protected]

A fine example of the collaborative partnership work being undertaken by the Community Heartbeat Trust in collaboration with street furniture provider J C Decaux. Defibrillator provision, along with illustrated guidance on how to use it, in the heart of the city high street in Northampton. Well done all involved!

The Circuit - As charity partners will be aware, the Community Heartbeat Trust has for over two years allocated significant unfunded staff resource to the verification and duplication of location data for its 8000+ CHT registered defibrillators to help build the national ‘Circuit’ database. Despite many trials and tribulations during this data duplication, the charity is pleased to advise that this work has now ended and all future enquiries concerning Circuit registration should be directed to the British Heart Foundation.

By the end of the year it is anticipated that CHT will have transitioned into a new ‘incorporated’ charity to be known simply as Community Heartbeat. It will have its own updated national database and product management system. A number of new Trustees will be joining the board of Community Heartbeat this autumn and a new business plan will empower the charity’s next phase of development.

In the interim, community defibrillator partners can continue to order renewables and new defibrillators throughout the change process using existing points of contact on the website and WebNos. As always it is wise to plan ahead and order replacements early.

The CHT team look forward to many more years of collaborative working with local communities, project partners, suppliers and heath service colleagues.

Working to save lives is an honorable cause we all share.
