A defibrillator is not just a purchase. It is a long-term promise to your community.

That promise includes installation, awareness, training, routine checks, replacement pads and batteries, and making sure emergency services know its location.

The strongest community schemes plan for the whole life of the AED—not just the day it arrives.

Tag a group fundraising for a defibrillator so they can build a sustainable plan from the start.

Could a delivery driver, visitor or tourist find your community defibrillator?

Local people may know where it is—but clear signs and accurate location information matter for everyone.

Try this test: stand at the main road or entrance and ask whether the AED is obvious, clearly marked and easy to reach.

Post a photo of your local AED sign and tag us to help normalise lifesaving visibility.

CPR keeps blood moving. A defibrillator may help restart the heart. Together, they give someone a fighting chance.

In a cardiac arrest:
1️⃣ Call 999
2️⃣ Start chest compressions
3️⃣ Send someone for the nearest AED
4️⃣ Follow the AED’s spoken instructions

One simple question could expose a dangerous gap: “Is our defibrillator rescue-ready?”

A community AED must be more than a box on a wall. Its pads, battery, cabinet, signage, registration and ongoing checks all matter.

Ask the person responsible:
✅ When was it last checked?
✅ Are the pads in date?
✅ Is the battery ready?
✅ Can it be accessed quickly?

Share this checklist with every organisation that hosts an AED.

The most important lifesaving equipment may be closer than you think.

Defibrillators are often installed in village halls, schools, shops, pubs, stations, workplaces and sports clubs—but many people walk past them without noticing.

Next time you are out, look for the green AED sign. Then tell someone else where you saw it.

Awareness today could prevent delay tomorrow.

Would your community know what to do in the first five minutes?

A sudden cardiac arrest can happen anywhere: at home, at work, in a shop, at a sports ground or on the street.

Prepared communities know:
📞 Who will call 999
🫀 Who can begin CPR
📍 Where the nearest AED is
🏃 Who will collect it

You do NOT need to be a doctor to use a defibrillator.

An AED gives clear spoken instructions and will only deliver a shock when one is needed. The most important things are to call 999, begin CPR and use the defibrillator as quickly as possible.

Fear should never stop someone from helping.
