At our 3rd June meeting, last week, we had a fantastic presentation & talk from Steve Benson-Davison who works in the Police Force Tarian ROCU Unit, in South Wales - Tarian means Shield, in Welsh - the unit is known as Tarian Regional Organised Crime Unit and works in the area of Cyber & Economic Crime that is affecting so many people, nowadays.
Steve told us that last year there there 14 million people affected, in the UK, by these types of crimes and that 70% of the scammers are based overseas. We all learnt, so much - the big slogan now, across the UK, created by the Police is:- "Stop-Think-Fraud"....so, no matter what we are doing, always be suspicious before talking to someone (on the phone), replying to an email or clicking on links, and the such like. We were all very fortunate to be able to take away a book called 'The Little Book Of Big Scams' - it is so informative😊

Our next meeting will take place on Wednesday 1st July and we are all looking forward to Blood Bikes Wales coming along to give us a talk about what they do for us all, in Pembrokeshire and across Wales😊

If you are thinking of joining WI and want to try out a taster session....please just come along, on 1st July - we start at 6.30pm and normally are finished by 9pm. Alternatively, if you'd like a chat with one of our members, beforehand, just private message us and we'll give you a call😊

We have had a really lovely day out, today, at Crug Glâs Country House - this is our second time of visiting - we enjoyed a fabulous day, last year, in April, too😀. So...today, we were warmly greeted with hot drinks and homemade welsh cakes..we then had a fantastic cookery demonstration from Sean Phillips (the new & recently appointed Head Chef👨‍🍳at Crug Glas) who made Bouillabaisse and also Beef Stroganoff, which we all then enjoyed for lunch😋 Beth then gave us a fabulous tour of the 'Main House' which included the new Cellar Restaurant, Bar & Lounge - 'The Cwtch @ Crug Glas'👍We also saw the 'Breakfast Dining Room', the grounds, outdoor accommodation....but, also, we saw the outside of the new wonderful 'Conservatory Restaurant' that is soon to open-the building crew were hard at work when we were there-it already looks really amazing...🥳 After our main course, we all enjoyed a delightful chocolate/pistachio pudding and shortbread😋 Janet Evans then demonstrated how to make the pudding, after our lunch, too👍 We all had a really enjoyable and fun day - the ambience, service and content was second to none....many thanks from all of us, Crug Glâs Country House at Camrose WI, who were able to come along, today...👏😊🥳

A 'massive thank you' to Ginny Batt from Pembrokeshire Hogspital for such an informative and brilliant talk last night...all about the history and the current work of the Pembrokeshire Hogspital and all about the hedgehogs in Pembrokeshire, too☺
We all learnt so much and we were delighted to have a 'cwtch' with a very 'chilled out' hedgehog called 'H'-one of Ginny's full-time residents🥰For us all, it was great to learn the basics of 'urgent first aid', if we ever come across an injured hedgehog, particularly those you come across, during the daytime(when they are not supposed to be out and about...). We also learnt loads about what we can all do in our gardens to help the hedgehogs and, lastly, we all went away making a note of the Pembrokeshire Hogspital's number if ever we found a hedgehog in distress...which is 07974-681659👍Thank you, so much, Ginny, from all of us at Camrose WI☺

At our 1st April meeting, we all had great fun meeting with Vicky Wilson, who talked us through the history behind Silk Card Painting...Vicky then showed us 'how to do' silk painting and we all then went on to create our own artistic creations☺🥳

So...for our May meeting - tomorrow night - Wednesday 13th May, starting at 6.30pm Camrose Community Centre, Pembrokeshire- we are all looking forward to having a talk from Ginny Batt, of Pembrokeshire Hogspital

If you fancy coming along to our meeting, tomorrow, to just see what it's all about....we guarantee that you will have a warm welcome from us all....☺

If you can't make tomorrow, our June meeting will be on Wednesday 3rd June, which you might be able to make....we tend to have about 30 minutes of business and then we have a cuppa/biscuits and then go onto to a speaker...we normally finish circa 8.30/9pm). Just PM us if you want someone to call you, beforehand to find out more about Camrose WI & Pembrokeshire Federation of WIs...👍
