St John Ambulance Cymru Pembrokeshire The First Aid Charity for Wales. Your donations help us to save lives here in Pembrokeshire.

As the nation's leading first aid charity, we offer training and support to people across Wales. Care to those in need is free but it costs us as a charity to provide it. We receive no core government funding and rely on private donations and income from first aid training to fund our charitable works.

Would you know what to do if someone collapsed in front of you?

This morning our Chief Executive Richard Lee joined Dot Davies and James Williams on BBC Radio Wales Breakfast. He talked about why CPR and knowing how to use a defibrillator matter so much, and why women are less likely to get CPR from a bystander in public.

It’s a short listen that could make all the difference. Skip to 1:42:20 πŸ‘‡

We have some exciting news.

We are working with Dynamic Business Services to create an interactive, immersive 360Β° e-learning course that allows you to explore a virtual environment and identify potential hazards that could lead to a fall. The course will also explore the main reasons people fall and why effective falls management is so important.

The course is designed to help care homes recognise falls risks and create safer environments for residents.

We’re delighted to see Haverfordwest Cadet Sarahjane representing our organisation during National Cadet Week at Haverfordwest High School. It’s a privilege to see our young people wearing their uniform with such pride, representing their fellow cadets and the values of St John Ambulance Cymru in their school and wider community.

Well done, Sarahjane! πŸ‘β›‘οΈ

A number of our pupils proudly wore their Cadet uniforms to school today, taking part in a morning parade led by Army Cadet Lance Corporal T Davis, joined by our Headteacher.

With over 20 pupils involved in the Army, Sea and Air Cadets, as well as St John Ambulance, we’re incredibly proud of their commitment, teamwork and dedication! πŸŒŸπŸ’š

Did you know St John Ambulance Cymru is part of a worldwide family that has been saving sight since 1882?
The St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital treats patients in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza regardless of ethnicity, religion or ability to pay. Last year that meant more than 232,000 patients – half of them children.
Here in Wales, our Hospitallers' Committee has supported the hospital for decades. In January they presented a cheque for Β£30,000 to the Eye Hospital Group.
You can help too: Β£50 = a child vision screening kit Β£250 = more sight-saving operations Β£500 = towards a new ophthalmoscope

🐾 A paws-itively brilliant visit for our Haverfordwest Cadets! 🐾

A huge thank you to the fantastic team at Greenacres Rescue for welcoming some of our Haverfordwest cadets last Sunday for a tour of the shelter and a meet-and-greet with some very charming residents! πŸ•β€οΈ

The visit formed part of the cadets’ animal first aid learning for their Grand Prior theme, β€˜Our World and Beyond’, and sparked some brilliant research into how animals can support people in healthcare and emergency situations β€” from reducing anxiety to medical alert and rescue animals.

The cadets even put their ideas to the test in a Dragons’ Den-style pitch, trying to convince our youth leaders that we needed a furry friend of our own!

Sadly, we don’t quite have the capacity for one just yet… but we’d certainly encourage anyone considering a pet to think about adoption from amazing charities like Greenacres Rescue πŸ’š

Thank you again for such a memorable visit! 🐾

πŸš‘ Meet Your Local Responders – James

James joined St John Ambulance Cymru by accident, but is passionate about making a real difference in the community. As a one of our Volunteer Responders, James responds to local 999 emergency calls to help ensure people get the medical help they need quickly.

πŸ’¬ When asked what he enjoys most about volunteering, James said it's the opportunity to meet amazing people, learn new skills, and know that every shift has the potential to make a positive impact on someone and their family.

Thank you, James, for your commitment, compassion, and dedication to helping others.

🚨Can you help us with our Volunteer Responder scheme? We’re currently fundraising Β£80,000 to purchase a new emergency vehicle to continue making a difference and saving lives!
