Yellow rattle (Rhimanthus minor) is a native, semi-parasitic plant that suppresses dominant grasses and creates spaces for a wider diversity of wildflowers to establish such as obeyed daisy, knapweed, fetch and potentially orchids.

In 2024, we planted wildflower seeds, including yellow rattle, on our fields at Dale Fort, funded by Green Fund.

Today we went out to take photos of how it has changed and there has been a lot of growth, and a visible increase in biodiversity.

The pictures show:
1. One of many yellow rattle plants in the field in April 2026.
2. The planting site in November 2024.
3. The planting site in April 2025.

5. The map of the planting site.

Thanks to everyone who has worked or is still working to maintain the meadow. Hopefully it will continue to thrive in the future! 👏 👏 👏
