Since December 2014 our Schools Financial Capability Programme has reached just over 7,000 children and young people. Our strong links with schools and teaching staff provide us with invaluable input, allowing us to adapt and constantly improve the lessons we deliver. All the schools we have visited fully support and actively promote the work we do with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Our lesson
plans and resources have been written by qualified teachers and have been awarded accreditation by Young Money & Young Enterprise. The success of our project can be attributed to engaging an effective team of sessional trainers and volunteers to support us, backed by the Citizens Advice Havant brand established in 1963. We are ambassadors for the Stop Loan Sharks campaign who have awarded us both funding and recognition. This helped us produce a series of videos complimenting our sessions in schools using a young team of animators from Solent University. We are also Ambassadors for Share Found, helping young people find their lost Child Trust Funds. We also have many partners in the community which we work with, to provide adults to develop better budgeting skills. We can talk to people on a one to one basis, or in groups, where great ideas come from sharing experiences. Our CEO, Jon Stuart recently commented; “This grass roots level approach aims to change the community’s perspective on money. Imagine a local upcoming generation who wouldn’t need the help of our traditional Citizens Advice services as they have their financial problems under control.”
