Havant Rotary's President Graham Smith was awarded the Havant Honorary Citizen Award on the 20th May as part of the Mayor making ceremony at The Plaza, in recognition of his services to the Havant community over the last 30 years.
Graham who was responsible for starting Havant Rotary’s Christmas sleigh which celebrates 20 years this year, is well known for coming up with “a cunning plan”.
Graham leads a team at Havant Rotary, that run a number of projects in the community that aim to make a positive difference. These projects include Feed Havant, that works with all of the food banks in the borough, the Rotary Christmas sleigh, the easter egg project that this year has helped charities raise over £30,000, the QA Children's emergency department art project, Make a difference fund and many more.
Graham who was advised of the award in February, said while it is nice to be recognised and a proud day, but none of these things can be achieved by yourself, I have always been supported by my family and the great team at Havant Rotary.
Graham who is a resident of Hayling Island was delighted to celebrate a good day for Hayling as Marilyn Skennerton also received a similar award and Mark Coates became deputy Mayor.
