Yappy Ever After Dog Rescue - Registered Charity No 1163969 Yappy Ever After Dog Rescue is an all breed rescue, specialising in Labradors - covering mainly Derby, Nottingham and surrounding areas.
(1)

YAPPY EVER AFTER is a Midlands based Dog Rescue founded by Louise Radford, covering mainly the Derby and Nottingham area, which was set up to try and help rehome dogs safely and forever into wonderful homes and give them the life they all deserve. We help dogs being offered for free on the various pet sites to ensure good, stable homes are found for these dogs and they do not end up as puppy machi

nes, bait dogs or unwanted strays in pounds, but we also rehome dogs from overseas who have no chance of a happy and safe life whilst they remain there. They are taken from the streets or from kill shelters and prepared to travel by trusted rescuers in the area. All our dogs are fully vaccinated micro chipped and age permitting de-sexed. They are all fully insured whilst in our care and residing with our foster families. All prospective new families for pups under six months. must sign a de-sexing contract prior to adoption and supply written evidence when the de-sexing procedure is completed. All our dogs wear ID tags whilst in foster, stating the rescue name and telephone numbers. None of our dogs are allowed off lead in public areas whilst in foster, so when applying to adopt please bear in mind we encourage all new fur-parents to keep them on the leash for at least the very minimum one month. All of our Policies and Procedures as well as our Foster and Re-homing forms can be sent out upon request. We are always seeking new Foster Families within the East Midlands, if you think you can help please download one of our forms or speak to a member of admin today. All of our Foster Families and Adoption Families have the support of Yappy Ever After Dog Rescue for life. We do not receive any Government funding and are entirely reliant on the support of businesses and the general public. Our paypal address for donations is [email protected]

If you would like to foster for us and help as many dogs as you can, please fill out a FOSTER TEAM FORM on our website (yappyeverafter.org.uk). You ideally need to be pet-free and child-free and must be in the Derby or Nottingham area with your own transport so you can attend one of the vet surgeries we have contracts with. You need patience, commitment and experience with owning dogs. If you would like to adopt one of our dogs, please fill out a ADOPTION/FOSTER FORM. We will get back to you if you are successful and would like to offer you a home check so please ensure contact numbers are correct. If you need to rehome your dog, please fill in SURRENDER/REHOME FORM and we will get back to you. We promise perfectly matched homes that have been fully checked and photo updates for life. Please note that we do not match-make as people almost always have an idea of size/breed/temperament in their minds so we advise you to keep an eye on the website/group/page for dogs needing homes. We have a huge amount of applications and emails that come through to the rescue, both for specific dogs and 'any dog' and we just do not have the time to contact everyone. If you submitted a form we will have received it and we will contact every successful candidate to offer them a home check. We try to keep dogs information and availability up to date, but this isn't always possible in busy periods. Please read all posts regarding dogs needing homes as we write them with safety in mind and will always err on the side of caution, as the alternative is unthinkable. Finally, please note that I oversee all queries, email, messages, calls and application forms myself and any placements and therefore need to try and prioritise these due to the constant stream of dogs needing our help. Please understand this....and don't give us a one-star review on Google because our "response is poor". We are not a business, we are a rescue and our dogs needs will always be foremost. Thank You for your support

We are looking for a foster with a view to adopt home for Bennie, a 4 year old little mixed terrier who has, until yesterday, been living on a balcony.

Once we found out he was living outside in this heat and with temperatures set to rise even higher, we had to get him into an emergency foster home yesterday. I just cannot imagine the heat he has been subjected to on a balcony this week alone with no shelter or shade. Bennie was being rehomed because the family are apparently moving abroad next week.

We are looking for a view to adopt for Bennie if possible. His overnight foster-mum says he’s still quite anxious at the moment, but is venturing over for tummy tickles and is definitely less stressed than when he arrived yesterday afternoon.

We don’t think he has had much human interaction and it’s possible that being confined to a small, enclosed space has made a bigger outside world too overwhelming for him at the moment.

We don’t have much info about his past as his owners speak limited English and couldn’t fill out a surrender form, but getting him out of the sweltering heat was obviously the priority so we may have to start from scratch with Bennie.

Despite being unsure of people, he hasn’t shown any aggression at all.

We were told he is good with dogs, but haven’t been able to test him yet obviously. He also lived with (albeit outside) a small child. As far as I can ascertain, he lived in the garden of his previous home - hence being moved to the balcony when they moved to a studio apartment with no garden.

Bennie also apparently used to live with a cat. He was allowed in the previous home in bad weather conditions (except, it seems, intense heat).

As always, finding a foster home by tagging or sharing is always so much more helpful than any negative comments. We totally understand people will be upset about his previous environment/situation, but this won’t help Bennie now.

If anyone would like to be considered for Bennie, please fill in an application form at yappyeverafter.org.uk

We are looking for a foster with a view to adopt home for Marshall, who arrived with us recently. Marshall is a 5-year-old Labrador who came to us due to his owner’s allergies around him and we believed he would go into foster and be rehomed quite quickly.

On arrival, however, Marshall was found to have sore, itchy skin and ears so he is now on a range of medication, including antibiotics, shampoos, ear cleaners and sprays. We’ve also changed his food to a sensitive skin product in the hope that this helps too.

As we think it will take a little time to get his ears/skin under control, we would like to try and move Marshall to a longer-term foster home to continue his vet care. This would ideally be with a view to adopting him so he can have more stability and not get too settled in his current short-term foster home.

Marshall is a lovely, cuddly and very friendly boy. He is in foster with another dog, but we feel he would be just as happy on his own. Any dogs he does go with will need to be similar-sized as he’s quite a chunk.

Marshall is strong on the lead, so will need a strong handler. He will pull on the lead when he sees other dogs, but only to say hello as he is an incredibly friendly boy.

His foster-mum says he greets everyone with gusto and absolutely loves the fuss and attention from visitors and strangers alike.

He has a lovely temperament despite being tormented by his itching and is such a good boy when having his ears cleaned.

Marshall will obviously need to stay local to our vets in Derby, Nottingham, Chesterfield or Burton so we can continue to pay for his vet treatment.

If you would like to be considered for Marshall, please fill in an application form at yappyeverafter.org.uk

Poppy and Missy joined us recently and are doing really well in their foster-home. These two lovely girls came from the same home and are so close. Even when they were found straying after escaping from their home before coming to us, they were found together and we won’t ever split them.

We aren’t sure if their foster family will adopt them yet as they are still in the foster period, but we will keep everyone posted.

Luna, the sweet girl who came to us with babesiosis, is doing really well.

She has now had her two Imizol injections and is back at the vets tomorrow to have her repeat PCR test. We are hoping this shows she is now clear from disease.

Please keep fingers and toes crossed for Luna! We will keep everyone posted.

Our beautiful Dolly has now been adopted. Dolly came to us as she was not getting on with the other dog in the home.

She went into foster with one of our wonderful foster-parents and settled in beautifully. As usual, her foster-mum went above and beyond for Dolly and we are so lucky to have her on the team.

Dolly’s new family are thrilled to have found her and Dolly is now the centre of someone’s world, which is where she has always wanted to be!

I will keep posting Coco and Willow until we find their perfect home! 🐾

Here is their foster-mum’s write-up…

“We’ve been fostering Coco (7yrs) and Willow (3yrs) for a few weeks now and they are two of the most loving and affectionate dogs I’ve ever known!

Willow is such a happy dog and full of energy and excitement, but is also very vocal with people she doesn’t know due to her being nervous and anxious. She soon comes round with a little patience. She’s very eager to please you and loves lots of attention.

Coco is more chilled, loves to greet people and loves her walks.

They are brilliant in the house! Can’t fault them at all.

Unfortunately, walking them together on a lead is a bit of a challenge as they can be very reactive and pull and bark. I do believe with training this could definitely be rectified though.

Off lead is a different story. They are so happy and love to run & play in a secure field. Their recall is brilliant and they are happy to meet and play with other unknown dogs they encounter on their walks.

If you’ve got the time, patience and lots of love to give to these beautiful girls, they will give you so much joy. They deserve the best forever home”.

Coco and Willow can live with children of 10+.

They would be most suited to a home where they are the only two dogs as they are such a bonded pair, though a home with another neutered, similar-sized and well-socialised dog would be considered.

They are not cat tested.

If you are local to Derby, Nottingham, Chesterfield, Burton, Newark or Stoke (as they will need to be spayed at one of our vets) and would like to be considered for adopting these gorgeous girls, please fill out an application form at yappyeverafter.org.uk

Charlie has had his last heartworm injection today - his third. We now have an anxious wait until 20/7 when his antigen test is repeated, hopefully for the last time. This is to check the gruelling injections have worked and the heart worm has been completely eradicated.

The injections that are saving Charlie’s life are are also incredibly strong and make him feel poorly and unsettled. It obviously isn’t nice for his foster family to see him go through this and the worry and responsibility of having to keep Charlie strictly rested at all times and for so many weeks must be a constant worry.

Charlie’s foster-mum, Lynda, took Charlie on his her foster dog and while she knew from the start that he had heart worm, she and her family have been absolutely incredible. They are determined not to keep Charlie as they want to help other dogs, but have also insisted that they want to see him through every stage of his treatment.

Please keep everything crossed for our beautiful Charlie boy.

I am going to try to catch up with updates this weekend, including new dogs and dogs rehomed. It has just been so busy recently, but it’s obviously important for us to show as many updates as we can!

We have had a few longer stay dogs adopted recently and are absolutely thrilled to have found them their perfect forever homes.

First of all is Ernie, our beautiful special boy – a standard poodle who came to us from breeding kennels all the way back in October last year.

Ernie spent several weeks in kennels with the wonderful staff at Ash Farm Kennels as Ernie’s over-exuberant nature put off anyone who went to meet him there. Ernie mouthed in pure excitement, jumped up constantly and had a habit of spinning frequently.

Ernie seemed essentially unadoptable, which was so sad and frustrating as through it all he has never shown even a hint of any aggression. He is just a very special daft loon!

Then a new experienced foster, Laura, came along and offered to take Ernie into foster and work with him. He was castrated, had hip X-rays and underwent a scale and polish while we kept trying to find a home willing to take on this lovely, quirky boy. To make him harder to rehome, however, he was also having to take ongoing pain relief for his hip joints and had needed to be on a more expensive sensitive food for his delicate tummy.

But then one day we had an application form from a family who seemed absolutely perfect for Ernie! A family who seemed so committed, weren’t interested in adopting any other dog than our Ernie and who had also had a spinning poodle in the past!

Ernie was officially adopted by them earlier this month and they say they cannot believe that nobody wanted him! He has settled in so well, so quickly and while some of his quirky behaviour is still a work in progress, his family have all the time (and the will) in the world to work on this with and for Ernie.

We are absolutely delighted for Ernie and both his and our dreams have now come true! Sometimes it takes a bit longer to find that perfect home, but we will always do it in the end!

Be good Ernest! 😬

We are looking for a foster to adopt home for Daisy, who arrived with us recently and went into an emergency foster home. We are looking for a foster with a view to adopt home to take Daisy now or a forever home after her first vaccination/vet check.

Here is her current foster-mum’s write-up. Daisy has only been with her foster-mum for a few days, but due to a booked holiday can only foster until the end of June.

Daisy is a 5-year-old pointer/lab cross who came to us from breeding kennels. She has recently had a litter of puppies (around 12 weeks ago).

Daisy has taken to home life very well, eats two meals a day and drinks plenty of water.

She is a very calm and loving dog. She is finding her feet around the home and garden and has today developed an interest in playing with toys and balls.

On a walk, she can be skittish when people approach or walk past her but this will eventually pass as her confidence grows. She walks very well on the lead and does not pull. She is not phased by traffic but is quite jumpy around loud noises, but this is already improving daily. Daisy is also very scent driven.

She remains nervy around us at the moment, coming to us for fuss but then retreating to her own space where she feels more comfortable. If her boundaries are respected and she is given the right time, love and patience she will make a wonderful companion for someone. I believe she will overcome all her current fears in time”.

She is booked in to restart her vaccinations next week and will need to stay local to Derby, Burton, Nottingham or Chesterfield for her second vaccine and spay procedure.

Daisy hasn’t been around children so will need a child-free/older child (10+) home.

As with most of our ex-breeders, she would be best with in a home with another similar-sized, neutered dog. She is in foster with a neutered male at currently and the kennels she came from say she was very friendly with all dogs on site.

Daisy isn’t cat-tested so will need a cat-free home.

She will need an active home, with a decent-sized garden as she loves to be outside.

If you would like to be considered for Daisy, please fill in an application form at yappyeverafter.org.uk

Please mark your application form ‘Daisy Lab x Pointer’ as we have two Daisy’s under our care.

We are looking for a foster home, ideally with a view to adopt, for Daisy - a 10-month-old Labradoodle coming to us as her owner has had a serious accident, resulting in her being in hospital for a while and unable to handle a young dog when she is finally discharged.

Daisy is an energetic, happy and friendly girl, who has always lived with other dogs and will need at least one other dog in her foster/forever home.

Daisy has never been around children, but we would consider dog-savvy children over the age of 10 as she is a happy, friendly girl. She can be a little shy around people/dogs she doesn’t know initially.

Daisy walks well on a lead and is crate trained. She will need an active family with lots of mental and physical exercise.

She is not cat tested, so will need a cat-free home.

Daisy has already been spayed, but needs to restart her vaccinations. She can therefore go a little further afield for the perfect home.

If you would like to be considered for Daisy, please fill in an application form at yappyeverafter.org.uk

Please mark your application form as ‘Daisy Labradoodle’ as we currently have two Daisy’s.
