I am a Grandfather to Lottie and Rory and a carpenter and joiner by trade.

I live in the village with my wife Lorraine, and assist with the Flower Festival, the annual fireworks and maintenance of the village green.

As a patron of the arts, I helped organise the summer concert ‘A Night of Musical Delights’ at St. Mary’s Church, that featured my son Ian.

As a regular in the public gallery at Parish Council meetings, I think becoming a councilor would allow me to put my energy to good use and make a positive contribution.

As part of the Vote for Change in HBO team, I/we have been transparent from the outset, that the six candidates listed, are standing as individuals with a shared aim to change the approach of the Parish Council. We have set out a number of commitments as a starting point in the attached leaflet.

In addition, following our meeting at the village school, we have pledged to conduct a full consultation in the village within 2 months of the election if successful.

Whilst we may not agree on everything, should any of our team be fortunate enough to be elected, we will work constructively together, including with other successful candidates in a positive and professional manner.

We know there is much work to be done but we think we have the right mix of new faces, skills and experience to move things on for the village in a measured and consultative way.

Good Morning,
We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend, we did.

Our meeting last Thursday was intended to set a direction of travel, in line with our commitment to
‘Regularly seek the views of villagers in a variety of ways’

A summary of the themes that came up multiple times on the feedback forms last week is below:

•reducing speeding and inconsiderate driving through the village
•the need for a village green strategy that is fully consulted on
•to support existing and develop new, community activity and societies for all residents
•PC meetings to be much more constructive
•keeping villagers updated about planning applications and support for affordable housing

Our existing joint commitments are on the back page of our leaflet (attached), but following your feedback, we would like to confirm that if elected:
We will complete a full, professional consultation with all residents (in person, online and on paper) within two months of the election, agreed by a new united council. This would include the themes above and others that matter to you.

This will be the last post from us until after the bank holiday weekend.

Thank you once again to those who attended at St Mary’s Primary School last night.

We will share a summary of the feedback forms next week once we’ve read through them all. Thanks for taking the time.

We’re delighted to say that those in attendance, generously contributed £105.60 to the village school whilst enjoying refreshments and HBO hotdogs!

Today we introduce Paul Murphy...

Born in Essex, Paul is a family man with two young sons, Henry and Arthur. He is a regular fundraiser for various charities. Most recently he completed the London Landmarks half marathon to raise funds for cancer research.

Paul is coach of the HBO Under 8s football team and is captain of the HBO T20 team. He regularly helps with local events including last year’s Jubilee Festival and organising a quiz at St. Mary’s primary school.

Today we introduce Ben Craig.

Ben is the father of young children, Cooper and Rex and members of his extended family have lived in Broad Oak for more than 20 years.

He works in human resources and currently leads a global team of 140 people in the technology field. He is passionate about growing and developing talent.

Having lived in the village for three years, Ben is ready and willing to get involved in helping the community.

Chris Blair

A Freeman of the City of London for community service, Chris has served as a magistrate and has been both a governor and PTA member of St. Mary’s Primary School.

For more than 30 years, he has worked as a manager at a senior level in both the public and private sectors.

Chris is an active fund raiser for Grove Cottage in Bishops Stortford and homeless charities in Harlow.
