Hastings Ore WI Based in Hastings, East Sussex, our group is about meeting other women, learning new things, helping our community - and enjoying ourselves!

Hastings Ore WI is now one of the largest WI's in the East Sussex Federation. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month. We have a number of special interest groups including book groups, walking, craft, discussion group, gardening group and eating out. We also run events to support local charities. With currently nearly 70 members, we are an active, friendly bunch.

Yesterday we learned how to make patchwork coasters at our Craft Meeting. Useful tips and ideas going forward. Thank you Lynda for showing us what to do. Some of us brought our own projects. We sat and had a good natter, laughed and of course a cuppa. Maybe the odd biscuit…. 🍪🤭

We had a fascinating talk last night from Stuart Corner about the Life of Bees. Who knew there was so much to learn. We had our bee themed competition, sold our home grown plants, had a raffle, congratulated our Race for Life team on raising £610 so far, and chose our poster for our autumn fair (watch out for more on that but save the date-10th October). We really earned our tea/coffee and cake😁

On Tuesday 12 of our members braved the weather to visit Friary Gardeners.. We had refreshments and a talk in the Link room, which has been recently refurbished (very nicely done). We had an interesting talk about Friary Gardeners from Steve, and Gary also gave a talk on their new Link project. We followed this with a walk around the nursery and with lots of lovely plants. Very impressive. What a fabulous time we had. Thank you Friary Gardeners🌸
