Rawhide Beavers took a trip to the beach for our session today and whilst the rain shower and thunder during the afternoon made us consider a contingency plan, I am so pleased we stuck it out because it was utterly glorious. ☀️☀️☀️
Metal detecting, sea glass hunting, learning the tales and myth about the hag stone, skimming stones and generally having a wonderful visit. Thank you to the adults who were on hand too 😊

Jellyroll Beavers explored the beach tonight.

We talked about tides, pebbles and creatures that live there, also safety by the sea. We read a seaside story and created beach art, spotted a buoy and saw Hastings lifeboat getting ready to launch.
We finished the evening at the pirate playground.
Aren't we lucky to live in Hastings!

This weekend the scouts successfully completed their expedition challenge as part of their chief scout award. Saturday they walked 9miles over the long man and down to Jevington on a circular route with some assistance from leaders with bearings, map & compass work. Today they walked around 5-6miles on a different route with remote supervision from leaders requiring a few small interventions when they got lost. Huge well done to all those who took part. You should be proud of yourselves.

Rawhide Beavers had a leader challenge tonight. Keeping in mind the Big Green Week and all the things we’d been talking about this term, let’s see if we can recycle a clean & empty pot noodle pot into something else.. well, we were not disappointed!

From a fridge (!) to a gas mask, it was really lovely to let them just go with their ideas!

Big Green fun in the copse and on the field tonight for Jellyroll Beavers. The Beavers played a game about sea creatures, then spotted bat and bird boxes, hedgehog houses, and discovered all sorts of mini beasts from woodlice, worms and centipedes to a huge carnivorous cannibal slug!
