🇺🇦 Legacy of War Foundation

PRESS RELEASE: 6TH NOVEMBER 2025

Angelina Jolie Visits Mykolaiv and Kherson on the Ukrainian Frontline with the Legacy of War Foundation

Angelina Jolie has visited Kherson and Mykolaiv on the frontline in southern Ukraine.

She spent time with medical staff, families and volunteers, who continue their daily lives under the constant presence of drones, the threat of shelling, and landmines that make large areas unsafe to return to. She saw how in some parts of the city, netting has been placed above public roads to try to provide a measure of protection against drone attack.

In response to the constant threat, medical care and education have moved into reinforced underground spaces, to enable treatment and learning to continue with a greater degree of protection. Angelina spent time witnessing this work - a reminder of both the human cost of conflict and the resilience of those who continue to endure it.

Angelina said: “The people of Mykolaiv and Kherson live with danger every day, but they refuse to give in. At time when governments around the world are turning their backs on the protection of civilians, their strength, and their support for each other is humbling. After nearly four years of conflict, exhaustion is visible, yet so too is determination. Families want safety, peace, and the chance to rebuild their lives.”

At Legacy of War Foundation we see ourselves more as a community, rather than an NGO or charity. We are a conduit between like-minded people that want to build a more equitable, sustainable and peaceful world. Our role not to empower others, rather to break down the barriers stopping others empowering themselves.

Key to that is stories, for in stories we find empathy, and in empathy the weapon against ignorance, misinformation and hate.

So it means a lot to us when one of our supporters is prepared to spend time with our partners and beneficiaries on the ground, even if that means travelling to frontline areas. For it is there that you can hear the stories directly, listen, and try to find the best ways to help breakdown those barriers. From frontline medical teams, demining, grants and rehabilitation/retraining for veterans we Legacy of War Foundation are committed to standing with Ukraine. 🇺🇦

Thank you Jeff for being one the first to believe in Legacy of War Foundation and for your unwavering consul, advice and support since then. Your visit has brought hope and solidarity.

Stronger together 🤍
