Celebrating 25+ years of memorable moments: Nando Messias at Knotty

Nando Messias brought The (Almost) Pink Supper to Hastings Contemporary in 2019. Taking the form of a dinner party, Nando’s performance sought to promote an understanding of LGBTQI+ rights and raise awareness of the countries around the world where these rights are under threat, all through the shared experience of sitting around a table, breaking bread and witnessing performance.

This event took place in June 2019 and was part of Knotty, our biennial performance festival that presents a programme of bold and original artists at unique locations across Hastings. The next Knotty will be in summer 2026.

Celebrating 25+ years of memorable moments: The Sharing Picnic at Arnold Circus

In 2010, we had the pleasure of collaborating with The Friends of Arnold Circus to co-create The Sharing Picnic 100. A broad-based collaborative event that saw over 50 Shoreditch-based artists join with local groups, schools, volunteers and neighbourhood businesses to share in a vibrant community event around food and friendliness - as well as cycling around the Circus and alternative vehicle parade 100 times!

Celebrating 25+ years of memorable moments: Adam Frost at The Printworks

In 2019, multi-disciplinary artist Adam Frost’s first performance of ‘SEND x43’ fused together text, costume and music to create an out-of-body experience that questioned the inner workings of our mind.

Part of New Qu**rs on the Block, our ongoing collaboration with .

Celebrating 25+ years of memorable moments: Oozing Gloop at the New Qu**rs on the Block Weekender

In 2020, Oozing Gloop, the world’s premier autistic green queen, presented "Glooptopia!" in Hastings. This hilarious and fantastical journey directly challenged the notion that people with autism “struggle with social imagination” and also the simple fact that it’s easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism.

The Hastings Q***r History Collective is commissioning a new artwork for its 2026 exhibition at Hastings Museum & Art Gallery.

LGBTQIA+ artists in East Sussex, or with a strong Hastings connection, are invited to propose an idea for a new piece.

The commissioned artist will receive a fee of £2,500.

Deadline: 22 December 2025, 23:59.

Home Live Art are collaborating with Central Saint Martins to host two artists studying at CSM for a residency at our studio in St Leonards.

Jacob Zang and Juliet Cook are spending the week digging into Home Live Art’s archive - 26 years of rich, messy and powerful experimental performance and community-building work.

They’ll be creating a live response informed by their time in the archive.

Juliet works across performance, sculpture and photography.

Jacob is a choreographer and theatre maker working across dance theatre and physical performance.

The Hastings Q***r History Collective is taking over Hastings Museum & Art Gallery in 2026 with an ambitious q***r-led exhibition and public programme and Home Live Art is hiring a Project Coordinator to help make it happen.

If you’re organised, collaborative and passionate about q***r history, this is your chance to be part of something special.
