In correspondence with Casper Johnson, County Archaeologist for Kent and previous County Arch for East Sussex, he has confirmed to me today that: 'You will be pleased to hear that the monographs for the Bexhill Hastings Link Road will be published in full in 5 volumes in 2026.' As many of you will have heard - these volumes, in production for many years, will reveal one of the largest Mesolithic landscapes ever discovered in UK. We certainly look forward to further revelations but we already know that Stone Age people were walking to Crowhurst from Dorset!

DR JUDIE ENGLISH (1948-2025)
It is with great sadness that we report the death yesterday of Dr Judie English following long-term health problems. Judie, a former CBA S-E Trustee and editor for many years of our newsletters, was an active field archaeologist in both Sussex and Surrey and published extensively on her findings, most recently on a project to investigate Cross-Ridge D***s on the South Downs. Judie was also a popular adult education tutor and taught various archaeology courses for the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) at the University of Sussex, for the Sussex School of Archaeology and History, for the Rottingdean Whiteway Centre, and many other centres. Judie was also a Vice-President of the Surrey Archaeological Society. In the absence of any close relatives, our thoughts are with Judie’s good friends Jenny Newell and Rose Ho**er who visited her regularly during her long stay in hospital. Judie will be much missed.

A team of archaeologists from Archaeology South-East are excavating the site of a former First World War training camp in Bexhill in a project which will involve the local community.
