Two weeks to go until our August meeting!

This month, we're swapping our usual breakfast meeting for something a little different - taking on our member St Michael's Hospice's 'Biz Quiz' for our Summer Social, alongside Bexhill Chamber of Commerce.

Whether you're a sole trader, a small team, or just fancy meeting some new faces over fish & chips, join us on Thursday 27th August. No team? No problem! Come along solo and we'll match you up with a team on the night.

In order to continue to support the fantastic work St Michael's Hospice does, profits from this event will be donated to the Hospice. We’d also recommend bringing some cash or card on the night, as there will be soft drinks available to purchase, as well as raffle tickets.

Places are filling up, so grab your ticket now - and if you'd like to bring a team of more than three, please contact us on [email protected]

Our meeting is looking a bit different this month... That's because we're swapping our usual morning breakfast for an evening quiz night!

We're excited to be joining forces with Bexhill Chamber for a joint Biz Quiz Summer Social, hosted by our member St Michael's Hospice (Hastings and Rother). There'll be fish and chips included, as well as plenty of chances to meet businesses from across the bay.

And it's all for a good cause! St Michael's Hospice supports people across Hastings and Rother through palliative care and bereavement support, funded largely through events like this one. All profits from the night go directly to them, and there's a raffle too if you want to bring some extra cash along.

Yesterday, our members had the unique opportunity to visit the Masonic Hall to learn about the Freemasons – from the organisation's rich history to how it fits into today's community.

Freemasonry is one of the oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations in the world, tracing its roots back to the ancient stonemasons' lodges active when castles, churches and cathedrals were being built. Four guiding principles help define a Freemason's path through life: integrity, friendship, respect and charity.

Today, there are more than 200,000 members across England and Wales, as well as Districts overseas. Membership is open to any man over 18, irrespective of race or religion, while women can join one of two female-only Grand Lodges: The Order of Women Freemasons and the Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons. Together, these bodies work harmoniously to dispel misconceptions and address challenges through the Council for Freemasonry in Great Britain, which, as of very recently, also includes the Grand Lodge of Scotland.

Members also had the chance to explore the ceremonial chambers. In keeping with the discretion of a time when masons kept a low profile, no footage of this part of the tour was taken. It was fascinating to learn about the 8 lodges based around Hastings that meet in the Grade II-listed Georgian building, as well as the symbolism found throughout the chamber.

A huge thank you to Nick and the wider Sussex Freemasons (all the Orders) team for opening the doors of the Masonic Hall to our members, and for the wonderful catering! 🙌

🗓️ Coming up next month... in August, we're looking forward to teaming up with Bexhill Chamber for the Biz Quiz, in support of St Michael's Hospice (Hastings and Rother).
