Our repairer Simon has demonstrated his remarkable skills in bringing this sewing machine back to life. With the help of Google he discovered that it was a Japanese domestic model designed for a 100 volt supply. So it was not surprising that the power supply components in the machine had blown when 240 volts was applied. The owner explained that she had found the machine discarded alongside a path in Brighton.
With the electrical components replaced, Simon then created a new 100 volt power supply unit from surplus components in his workshop (it’s some workshop!), nicely packaged in an aluminium case.
So we really hope the machine will have a long and successful life in its new surroundings.
