We are trying to raise interest and finance to introduce a bike pump track in Haslemere to provide a playground for kids and adults alike, from beginners to professionals. In the last year, there has been a huge rise in mountain biking, bike riding and skating and it appears there are inadequate facilities in our area for this growing passion. So much so there has been evidence of people taking ma
tters into their own hands by attempting to make their own tracks and jumps. While the intention is innocent, these amateur attempts can be dangerous and have the potential to injure innocent users. This clearly demonstrates there is simply not enough being done by local councils and a Pump Park could well be the answer! How wonderful it would be to indulge those that would like a hobby that enables them to keep fit, meet new, like-minded people that share common interests in a controlled environment? It could help build self-confidence, make friendships as well as looking after your Health. Exercise can help with you mental well-being and build a better state of mind. If we have learned anything over the past 12 months, it is how physical exercise and social interaction can play a massive part in how we feel mentally and physically. It would appeal to those struggling with obesity or maybe rehabilitating from injury, or simply trying to find something new, a fresh start. It gives amazing and exciting opportunities for those with disabilities to feel comfortable in a safe and friendly environment. Can you imagine the thrill of “riding the bumps” for the adventurous wheelchair user! The nature of these facilities could appeal to any one at any age. Given the extensive rate that cycling of an adventurous nature is growing, there are few facilities. We need to give everyone the opportunity to indulge in a passion that is growing fast. Help the seniors stay healthy, encourage the youngsters to become healthy, support those who may need help or direction, move in the right direction. So put down the phone, turn off the PlayStation and put out the cigarette!! What are we trying to do? We are proposing to introduce a dedicated bike park - now commonly known as a ‘Pump Track’ to Haslemere. Pump Tracks are a worldwide success. From America to Africa pump tracks are being built in all corners of the world. They provide a playground for kids and adults alike, from beginners to professionals. A pump track provides a community with a sustainable and fun packed activity for all. After an incredibly positive meeting with our own Wayne Restall and members of the Haslemere Town Council in March 2021, it was agreed this proposal should be looked at in more detail feasibility study. We are now reaching out to the local community to give us your feedback – we have created an online quick survey to help us understand your thoughts - the link is below to copy and paste (it won't autolink here), or just click on our website...
