What a fabulous first week of the summer half term ๐Ÿฅฐ

Our young people have enjoyed reconnecting and catching up with friends as well as helping to care for the animals on the farm๐Ÿด๐Ÿถ๐ŸŒฟ

This week also saw lots of excitement as we explored some fantastic new additions to the farm, including our new rocking horse, wood pallet teepees, mini trampolines and more. Lots of fun has been had by all.

This half termโ€™s theme is Water ๐Ÿ’ฆ and this week our young people have been busy taking part in science experiments ๐Ÿงช creating water-themed artwork ๐ŸŽจ and even designing and building their own boats โ›ต๏ธ

There is also the opportunity to undertake an AQQ in Horse Field Management this half term, helping them develop valuable practical skills and knowledge.

We canโ€™t wait to see what the rest of the half term brings. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’™ CORPORATE VOLUNTEER DAY ๐Ÿ’™

A heartfelt thank you to the amazing colleagues from Mastercard who joined us at the farm this week for a Corporate Volunteer Day.

Despite the rain, the team didnโ€™t let the weather stop them and got stuck into a variety of projects around the farm. From clearing and strimming to getting creative with pallets, they worked incredibly hard throughout the day.

Their efforts resulted in some fantastic additions for the young people who attend the farm, including wooden teepees โ›บ๏ธ, chalkboards ๐ŸŽจ and wonderful bug hotels ๐Ÿž๐Ÿ›. The results are truly amazing and we are immensely grateful for all their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication.

Thank you so much to everyone involved for making such a positive difference. ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŽฅ NEW SUPPORT VIDEO ๐ŸŽฅ

Tonight Sarah talks about how we start every moment off with a person we see, sheโ€™s calls it, โ€œConnection First, Task Second."

This includes checking in with ourselves to see how we are and what choices we want to make for our lives.

If we make these choices from a place of connection we can live a life we love but if we put task first then we may end up somewhere we didnโ€™t really want to be.

So when our families return after a weekend, 1/2 term etc, itโ€™s important that we check in to see how they are before we crack on with the day. ๐Ÿ’™

This week, we would like to give a huge shout-out and celebrate the incredible volunteers at Autism Angels.

Not just this week, but all year round, week after week, no matter what, our amazing volunteers show up at the farm to support our families and community.

Our volunteers are at the heart of Autism Angels. They are an integral part of everything we do and we know that without their time, energy and commitment, our work simply would not be possible.

Many of our volunteers start from a unique place, having experienced the transformational impact of our services themselves. Their understanding is an invaluable asset, helping them to support families, share their experiences and inspire others.

We are incredibly grateful for the time, dedication, compassion
and commitment our volunteers give. They make such a difference to the lives of the families we support, and without them, we simply couldn't do what we do.

Thank you to each and every one of you for everything you bring to Autism Angels. You are truly amazing. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

Over the half term break our team have been hard at work behind the scenes to ensure the farm is in tip-top shape and ready to welcome everyone back for sessions this week.

One of the key projects completed has been the installation of new fencing, creating a track system for our horses to enjoy throughout the summer months. This will help support their wellbeing and encourage natural movement around the farm.๐Ÿด๐ŸŒฟ

A huge thank you to the Worshipful Company of Loriners for their generous donation which made this project possible. Your support helps us continue to develop and improve our facilities for both our horses and community.

We canโ€™t wait to see everyone back on the farm this week.๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿด We have a new horse at the farm ๐Ÿด

Our newest arrival is ready to help our young people build their confidence and skills. This horse will be ideal for practising tacking up with saddles, fitting a head collar, grooming, and learning all about horse care in a fun and safe way.

Now we need your helpโ€ฆ

โœจ New videoโœจ

โœ๏ธToday Sarah M is discussing the importance of challenging schools when they say they are unable to help due to โ€œschool policyโ€. The Department for Education (DfE) statutory guidance, Working Together to Improve School Attendance, mandates that schools engage in compassionate, multi-disciplinary support to address barriers to attendance, rather than jumping straight to disciplinary policies. If school-level policies are rigid or unaccommodating of complex needs, you can pursue the following avenues
1) ask to be referred to early help
2) escalate to school governors and / or trust.

๐ŸฉตIf you would like have any questions or your family have lived experience of this, and can pass on support and guidance in navigating this time, please do get in touch and comment below to support other families starting on their journey.
