The Government has discovered an error in their pension calculations leaving possibly as many as 370,000, mainly women, entitled to higher payments.
It may affect anyone who claimed Child Benefit between 1978 and 2010, who didn't work or pay National Insurance contributions during some, repeat some, of that time.
Those missing contributions should have been taken into account when your pension was initially worked out but in many cases it wasn't.
Government has identified 370,000 possible claimants and sent letters last year however few replied. Those successful claims have now been paid.
So if you, or someone you know, receives a reduced state pension below £176 a week for the old pre 2016 pension or £230 a week for the new one ( that gap just gets bigger!) then please log on to gov.uk and look for "Home Responsibilities Protection" to check if you're eligible.
Remember though some pensions may be reduced for other reasons so not everyone answering those questions will automatically get more.
So far only £100 million has been paid out from the £1billion estimated to have been underpaid.
The good news is that the average payment for the 12,000 successful claims was a massive £8,377!
