The Government has today announced a ban on social media for under-16’s 📱
For a generation that has grown up online, putting down their phones and stepping away from social media won’t be easy.
It will take time to rebuild habits, confidence and real-world connections. Young people will need support, guidance and alternative spaces where they can feel connected, informed and heard.
That’s where our Fantastic UTH CITY stoke youth app plays such an important role.🔥
If young people are spending less time on social media, we need to make sure they are not simply left with a void.
The app can provide a safe, trusted and positive digital space where young people can discover local opportunities, access support services, find activities and events, connect with youth organisations, and get advice on issues that matter to them. Instead of endless scrolling, they can find pathways into sport, volunteering, creative projects, employment opportunities and wellbeing support.👊
This moment is not just about restricting access to something harmful. It is about creating something better in its place. If we are serious about helping young people thrive beyond social media, we must invest in platforms, services and communities that help them build real relationships, develop new skills and feel part of something bigger than their screens.
The ban is a major step forward. But it cannot be the final step. The challenge now is ensuring that young people have the support, opportunities and trusted spaces they need to flourish in a post-social media world.
