“The day after.....
I now know that completing this in under 24 hours was never going to happen. I underestimated the course and overestimated my ability...lesson learnt.
However, I can honestly say I am immensely proud of myself. I am not ashamed to say, that was the hardest thing I have ever done. Certainly physically and maybe mentally too. The 1st 1/4 was strong and I felt good but that 2nd 1/4 was brutal! The hills were steep and relenting, the downs were as brutal as the ups.
I've never suffered from blisters, until now! And they're big. From the half way point I was proudly in the top 2 for the 'best' blisters of the day 💪🏻. As voted by the medics, who were great fun and a good moral boost at every stop and they kept the feet going, just about.
Thank you to all my friends and family and random people for their kind words and donations, it really does make all the pain and hurt worth it as I have reached my goal of £1500 for but it's not too late to donate (I don't think) at www.justgiving.com/page/who-dares-runs
I am immensely grateful to my sister, Rebecca, who walked from the half way point to 80k. I think she probably saw me at my worst, saying 'I wasn't sure I could finish this'. She kept offering to take my bag or some of the weight out but every time I refused. She later said I was 'strong and defiant'.
And to my 3 work mates that randomly showed up, that was such a good moral boost! You have no idea! Thank you
Trek masters Jonathan and Richard were great in helping to keep me going, chatting away to help me forget that my feet were screaming at me.
And finally, to my fiancé, Kim, I don't know where I would be without your kindness and support over the past couple of years and I will always be grateful. You helped push me through the last 20k and I'm grateful that you said yes at the end.
Imagine she said no! 😂
Thanks everyone!
Remember,
Always a little further
