This week RYA CEO Sara Sutcliffe has been in the region visiting a number of organisations. Sara joined Regional Manager Ben Hodgson and went to a range of venues from small Training Centres and clubs, to some of the regions largest clubs. Sara enjoyed meeting the teams that support RYA activity across the region and hearing about their successes, as well as some of the challenges that Midlands venues face. Sara was also given the opportunity to enjoy getting on the water helming a narrowboat on the canal and a keelboat at one of our clubs. A great vibe today at the launch of our Regional Eboat trial - phase 2. Regional Manager Ben Hodgson has a few words about the boats and captures some feedback from people that were at the launch and had a go! Thanks Burton Sailing Club for hosting us!

Launch Date!
Phase 2 of our regional electric outboards trial kicks of with a demo & Launch event on Saturday 9th May @ Burton Sailing Club. There will be 4 boats to try with different configurations, meaning you can experience tiller and console layouts as well as different performance. Our re-fitted demo boat will be there which now has a much quicker engine (Momentum M10) enabling planing speeds easily on the well known Rigiflex.

Aimed at RYA-affiliated sailing, yacht clubs, charities and university teams across the UK, Sunsail's Funding the Future initiative offers the opportunity to secure up to £6,000 of funding to invest in facilities, equipment, and innovative programmes designed to grow participation in sailing at grassroots level.

In addition to the top prize, Sunsail will also award £2,000 to two runners-up.

The first of our 2 Regional Training Days took place this weekend in Birmingham. A great day of updates and running sessions afloat that will engage young people with the RYA Onboard programme. Also upskilling by training as a SwimSafe with OnBoard Instructor - it was chilly in the water!

For our younger sailors....With the Derbyshire Youth Sailing series and Worcestershire Youth Sailing Association series both starting last week, this weekend sees the start of the Northamptonshire Youth Series . Please see details in the post for how to get involved.
