The Drop The Knife Community Interest Company & Charity #droptheknife
The Drop The Knife Community Interest Company and Charity has been set up with the aim of delivering a cohesive end to end educational package in Anti-Knife Crime and Gangs in to Primary, Secondary Schools, Youth, Sports, and community based organisations across the UK. The company was formed after our CEO Will Flint was stabbed 12 times in Birmingham in 2017. Will has now recovered from his injuries but is determined to help our young people to experience life without suffering the consequences of knife crime and the injuries and death it causes.
We have developed range related educational programmes that can be delivered in to these organisations, along with ongoing mentoring, and signposting to other charities or services where necessary. We are also looking to develop a Virtual Reality programme that can be taken in to schools to help deter young people from taking up the knife as a form of defence.
We are looking for as much support as possible, and are currently looking for volunteers who are willing to join us to deliver the educational packages in to organisations, or help us with fundraising or sponsored events. We are looking to raise £1.5m to make this programme of activities a reality for the next three years and onward.
For every 100 young people we can prevent from getting in to knife crime and gangs we can save the government £8m which is the cost of putting these young people through the justice system and young offenders institutes and prison system.
