A big thank you to Train'd Up for becoming members of CFFC.

It was lovely to welcome Clare to our office to present their membership certificate and get a photo to mark the occasion.

Train’d Up do fantastic work supporting skills training and apprentice recruitment, helping people gain the tools and confidence they need to build their future careers.

Their membership helps us support more local groups and projects across Calderdale, with 100% of membership fees going back out as grants to the community.

Great to have Train’d Up on board.

Now the applause has settled, we’re taking a moment to share more of Community Spirit Awards Lifetime Achievement winner Hazel Brindle’s story.

Hazel received this year’s award after decades of community work across Calderdale, including her support for young people and her work with Nest Helping the Homeless.

In our interview, Hazel talks about compassion, community, and the importance of believing in people.

It's a lovely read about what happens when someone keeps showing up for people, year after year. You'll want to give your screen a hug ❤

Thank you, Hazel.

A great AI conference! Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to everyone involved in organising this well-attended event.

There was plenty of valuable information for people at different stages of their AI journey, and it was nice to see attendees also generous in sharing their AI knowledge and experiences with others.

Exciting collaborative times ahead as we build on today and look at the next steps in supporting the VCSE sector in the world of AI.

It’s Volunteers’ Week, so we want to say a big thank you to everyone who gives their time to CFFC.

That includes the people who help at our events, support us with office tasks, and give their time as trustees and committee members.

A lot of this work happens quietly, but it makes a real difference to what we’re able to do for local people and communities.

Thank you to every CFFC volunteer. We really do appreciate it ❤

Ahead of Refugee Week (15th to 21st June), Ese Ne Tekyerema (EnT) is inviting people across Calderdale to take part in Kokoo Footprint, a community-led social experiment exploring courage and sanctuary.

When - Friday 5th June, 12.00 pm - 2.30 pm
Where - Kokoo and Chocolate Heritage Repair Museum
Unit 4 Northgate House, Market Street, Halifax, HX1 1UR

Participants are invited to bring one everyday item from their home or workplace whose roots begin somewhere in the Global South. This could be a tea packet, chocolate wrapper or clothing label.

Together, the group will reflect on how everyday goods can move freely across borders, while many people connected to them cannot.

The afternoon will include a welcoming tea ritual, shared reflection and a closing act of care.

This is an open invitation to anyone who holds sanctuary values close to their work or community.
