✔️ FINISHED! ❤️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

What was meant to finish in Mirfield somehow ended up in Huddersfield! 🤦‍♂️😂 But we made it!

A brilliant effort from everyone who took part in today’s Homeless Walk. Tired legs, sore feet and plenty of miles covered – all for a cause that really matters.

Now we’re asking for your support.

A massive thank you to Project C**t and Rusty’s Coffee House for supporting us on our big canal walk from Sowerby Bridge to Mirfield, raising funds for The Light Group and the work we do supporting people facing homelessness and hardship. ❤️

We stopped off at Rusty’s Coffee House along the way and were kindly treated to a free beverage ☕ — just what we needed to keep us going! A lovely act of kindness and very much appreciated. 🙏

Another great day supporting people across Bradford.

The Light Group began the day out on outreach, spending time with people facing homelessness and addiction, providing teas and coffees, talking about recovery and offering practical support. We explored housing options, made referrals into rehabs and helped people connect with supportive communities.

After outreach, we continued supporting people at the drop-in at Fountains Church, working alongside their amazing team. Fountains provided a warm meal of fish and chips, with jacket potatoes and cheese also available, alongside pastoral care and a welcoming place for people to sit, talk and connect.

We finished with a wonderful Bible study together, exploring faith and Scripture in a relaxed and welcoming space.

It’s always encouraging to see what can be achieved when we work together as one team, building community, offering hope and supporting people to take positive steps forward❤️😊

Tony is training to be a homeless pastor in Hull. Help us to support Tony and build the Light Group in Hull 🙏

For a long time, Anthony has felt stuck.

Anthony is now clean after overcoming he**in addiction, but the consequences of that period of his life have been enormous. He lost his leg and, with significant mobility challenges, has spent a long period largely housebound. Along the way, he lost much of his hope, confidence and sense of direction.

Now, Anthony has an opportunity to change that.

He has been accepted onto the School of Homeless Pastors, a two-year leadership programme that will help him turn his lived experience into something positive — equipping him to support and encourage others facing some of the struggles he knows only too well.

We want to raise £5,000 to help Anthony make this new start possible.

The money raised will help Anthony take part in the two-year programme, meet the additional transport and accessibility costs he faces, and support him as he begins building LIGHT Group Hull over the next 12 months.

Through LIGHT Group Hull, Anthony will help build a team, speak in churches, take part in outreach and help connect people into STEP groups and supportive local church communities.

♿ The Canal Challenge – Friday 21 August

Anthony is kicking off the fundraiser with a challenge of his own:

Travelling the canal from Sowerby Bridge to Brighouse in his wheelchair.

Even getting to the starting line is a challenge. His wheelchair isn’t practical to take on the train, so he needs accessible transport from Hull to Sowerby Bridge and then from Brighouse back home to Hull afterwards.

For someone who has spent so much time stuck at home, this is about far more than completing a canal route.

It’s Anthony choosing to move forward again.

Our goal is £5,000 to give Anthony the training, practical support and opportunity to take this next step — and ultimately use his own journey to help others.

If you can sponsor Anthony, please give whatever you can. And if you can’t donate, please share his story.

Halifax Outreach, Connection, Support & Hope

Today we supported 36 people in Halifax with food, light snacks, tea and coffee, alongside practical support, conversation and a listening ear.

It was especially encouraging to hear that one person we’ve connected with through outreach came to church today, while another begins their journey into rehab tomorrow. This is why connection and consistent support matter.

A big thank you to Greggs for their weekly donations, New Beginnings Church for providing cake and hot water, and all our volunteers and supporters who make this outreach possible.

Our supplies can sometimes run short, so we’re looking for people to become Street Lights by giving a monthly donation. Any amount helps us continue reaching people affected by homelessness, addiction and other challenges, offering practical support, connection and hope.

Could you help us keep this outreach going each week and make supplies sustainable if so please follow the link, thankyou for all you support 🙏❤️
