Planning is well underway for Halesworth's offerings this year! Around 15 events/activities booked so far with more to come. And don't forget, if you need a history fix before September, the Halesworth & District Museum is now open for the year with shiny new signage and new exhibits.

Our HOD'S event start this Thursday 11th September with a visit to the Halesworth Cemetery Chapel, a unique building rarely open to the public. Kevin Wooldridge will give a talk on the Chapel's history and the value of the records available to trace family history. The cemetery for the town is attractive and historical and can be visited.
Tours at 10am & 2pm.

Discover how was transformed from a former maltings building. Join Simon Raven - co-founder, on Saturday 13 September at 1100, 12.30 or 1400 for 2 short films, one showing how the original C19th New Cut Maltings building operated as a maltings, and a documentary film + slides tracing the story of how and why the maltings was converted into a regional and community arts centre and enterprise hub. Beautiful St Marys Church will be offering a whole host od activities on Saturday 13th - Exhibitions: Art and photography displays from Bungay High School and Halesworth Camera Club;‘Bee-keeping at Halesworth Area School in the 1950s’; a miscellany of local images. Tower bell ringers offering bell-ringing and teaching sessions and trips up the tower. Halesworth Repair Café dealing with electrical items, sewing machines and blade sharpening. Talk by Keith Noakes entitled ‘The A Bee C of Beekeeping’ and illustrated with the aid of a replica beehive. Talk by Alan Greening, the church architect, entitled ‘Historic Buildings of Halesworth’.
And, on Sunday 14th - Tour of St Mary’s Church, including its stained glass and heraldry, by Dee Scotcher and Keith Noakes.

Brand new to HODs this year, we are delighted to bring you guided tours of the Halesworth United Reformed Church. The URC opens it doors for all to come and have a look at the beautiful architecture. Those wanting to hear more about the history behind the building can attend one of the tours guided by Richard Sewell, as well as learn some of the background of the congregational church with was founded in 1794. Saturday 13th Sept - tours at 11.30am & 1.30pm.
