Monday 19th September will see Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

This means that there will be some changes to local services. Please see below for further details:

Public Transport

A Bank Holiday service will run, meaning Glossopdale Buses will run to Sunday times.

This means that only the 237 (Glossop to Ashton Under Lyne - hourly service) and 61 (Glossop to Buxton - every two hours) services will be running.

For us locally (on Gamesley), there are no buses on Monday; the nearest you can get a bus will be at Dinting Arches or Carpenters.

Northern Rail advises that they are running their regular timetabled service.

Bins

The Council is making waste collection changes to allow all the staff to pay their respects on Monday 19th September.

Green-Lidded bin collections are suspended from Monday, 19th – Friday, 23rd September.

Black and Brown bin collections, due to take place on Monday 19th, will be caught up during the rest of the week.

For us locally on Gamesley, our Tuesday collection of Brown bins should happen as expected.

Our Early Years team are running FREE workshops at various venues across the district. The 45 minute session will include songs & rhymes and music-making, a simple ‘let’s get messy’ arts and crafts activity, and some soapy fun sensory play to finish up with. Up to two adults and one non-walking baby per family booking. These are stand alone sessions with some follow up music sessions over the summer. Each workshop is limited to 4 babies on a first come first served basis. To book a place please email [email protected]

Gamesley Christmas 2021 - Church Services

There are no church services on Gamesley itself on Christmas Day.

If you’re looking for Roman Catholic midnight mass, your nearest choice is 11.30 pm for carols followed by midnight mass at the Immaculate Conception on Long Lane in New York, Charlesworth – there’s also St Mary’s in Glossop at 5.45 pm for carols followed by mass at 6.00 pm.

For the Church of England, there’s a crib service at 4 pm at St John’s in Charlesworth, and then it's 11.30 pm for midnight communion again at St John's in Charlesworth.
For services on Christmas Day, for Roman Catholics, there is the Immaculate Conception at 9.30 am, St Mary’s at 9.15 am, and for Church of England, it's 10.00 am at St John’s.

On Christmas Day, there are no Chemists open in Glossopdale.

The nearest open is
Adams Pharmacy in either Stalybridge (Stalybridge Resource Centre, 2 Waterloo Road, Stalybridge, SK15 2AU) 12 pm until 4 pm or Ashton (169 Mossley Road, Ashton, OL6 6NE) 8 am until 12 pm.

There are no details listed for Boxing Day or New Years Day (except for Mews Pharmacy open on New Year's Day 9 am until 1 pm), and for the substitute bank holidays (27th, 28th and 3rd), Tesco’s Glossop is listed as been open 9 am until 1 pm.
