Thank you to everyone who follows and supports East Lothian Ramblers and Hillwalkers.

As many of you know, we lead a walk every Sunday and share the walk details on our page the week beforehand. Over the past few months, interest in our walks has grown enormously. It’s been fantastic to welcome so many new faces — but the increasing group sizes are beginning to put pressure on some of our leaders.

We’d like to offer more walks to help spread out the numbers, but at the moment we simply don’t have enough trained leaders to do that comfortably.

Our weekly Facebook posts have clearly helped raise our profile, but they’re also attracting more walkers than we can currently manage. With that in mind, we’ve decided to pause posting our weekly walk details on Facebook for the time being. This will give us the chance to train more of our regular walkers to become leaders. Once we have a larger team, we’ll be able to offer more walks, reduce group sizes, and make things easier and more enjoyable for everyone leading.

At that point, we can start sharing our walks on Facebook again.

Thank you for your understanding — and for being part of our growing community.

We started our walk from Earlston in sleet this morning, but it soon brightened up & we had lovely blue skies for most of the way. Beautiful Borders’ scenery, lots of wildflowers & even a short talk on the Roman history of the area made it another excellent day out! 🌼🌦️☺️

Eighteen of us went for a wander around Musselburgh today; there was plenty of interesting history along the way, plus many wildflowers were out beside the route. It was a bit chilly to start off with but warmed up by the afternoon - another lovely walk!

Our walk was slightly shorter than planned today due to the high winds - it was difficult to stay upright on the summit of Traprain Law! But on the plus side, we finished just before a heavy shower so stayed dry, and our alternative lunch spot was the Great Hall of Hailes Castle … very grand! It was good enough for Mary, Queen of Scots & it was definitely good enough for us!
