Wing and a Prayer Rescue SCIO ONLY official FB page for Wing and a Prayer Hen Rescue SCIO -a small charity (No. SC045052) based in SCOTLAND working to re-home commercial laying hens

Wing and a Prayer Hen Rescue (also known as Wing and a Prayer or Wing and a Prayer Rescue) is a Scottish charity (SCIO No. SC045052) which rescues and rehomes ex-commercial laying hens. We hold rescue events approximately every 8 weeks all over Scotland from Inverness to Dumfries and many places in between. We are entirely funded by donations and run by volunteers. We do not have a central rehoming point to keep hens, so we rely on volunteers allowing us to use their premises for a few hours for rehoming days and to care for unwanted or sick hens at their own homes.

*WE ARE THE ONLY REGISTERED HEN RESCUE CHARITY IN SCOTLAND- PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE US WITH OTHER ORGANISATIONS USING OUR NAME AND LOGO*

This week, we’ve had one of our biggest challenges yet: we were offered the opportunity to rescue 60 cockerels from a caged farm, as well as 150 hens.

We can never refuse an opportunity to rescue a caged chicken, but this one has been a real challenge!

Enormous thanks to The Maggie Fleming Animal Hospice and The Karass Sanctuary who are offering sanctuary to 30 boys and the other 30 will be going to our bachelor flock in the Borders.

If you can possibly consider offering a home to a boy, please get in touch! 🙏🙏🙏🙏

The caged girls will go to our Hawick and East Lothian collection points, although all the hens in Hawick are now reserved.

Our new website is now complete!

Enormous thanks to Arcas Web Design who have managed our website for many years now completely free of charge! We are so grateful to Simon and the team for keeping us right ♥️♥️

Our emails have also followed the shortened domain name ‘wingandaprayer.scot’, but by some technological magic from Simon any emails to our old address will still reach us.

Registered as a Scottish charity in August 2014, we are the first hen rescue charity in Scotland. We rescue hens from farms when flocks are replaced and rehome them as pets, saving them from slaughter and ensuring they get the retirement homes they deserve. The charity is a non-profit organisation,....

Meet Bud & Weiser! 🍻🐓

These two handsome lads are looking for flocks to call their own. They’re pals and can go together, but are equally happy to be rehomed separately.

Could you offer one or both a lovely home? Currently at our Linlithgow point📍

Apply to rehome here: https://www.wingandaprayer.scot/help/rehome/

Years ago, a lovely re-homer from Aberdeen sent us some fabulous pictures of the hens she rescued from us. Our ‘before and after’ picture is one of them.
We’d like to include that on our new website but don’t have the original picture. If it was you who took it, could you get in touch please? 🙏
