Haddington & District Community Council is inviting residents to take part in a public drop-in consultation on the Three Closes Project, a community-led initiative to reimagine and improve some of Haddington’s historic closes, starting with Ross’s Close.

The consultation will take place on Saturday 31 January, 11am–3pm, at the John Gray Centre Library.

This is an opportunity to:

See short video presentations explaining the project and showing what could be possible
View early ideas and visuals and respond to them
Take part in voting and structured feedback to help shape priorities
Share local knowledge, ideas, and concerns
Find out how to get involved as the project develops

This is a genuine early-stage consultation. No designs are fixed and no decisions have been made. The aim is to shape the project with residents from the outset.

HDCC has supported the development of this work and is pleased to help bring it to the wider community for discussion.

If you are out earlier, you can also find the project team at the Farmers’ Market (10am–1pm) the same day for a preview and informal chat.

All welcome. Please share with anyone who may be interested.

Our disappointment in 3 of our local councillors is profound, and our trust is completely broken. We will not back down, we will not give in - NO PARKING CHARGES IN HADDINGTON.

BREAKING NEWS - Parking charges in Haddington have also been approved following a block vote from Labour councillors and the local authority's green councillor for 'amendment 2'.

"I did not become a councillor to drive people out of work," the Conservatives' George McGuire had said, in opposition to the plans.

But Provost John McMillan said: "Changes like this are for the public good. I'll be voting in terms of what I think is the public good."
