This painting made me sad mainly because it’s not too far from the truth, it’s an allegory. Our Wahine Project days were pure joy and playfulness where surfing served as a teacher through play. So many lessons were learnt in and out of the water.

It was the most beautiful and memorable part of my working life to date and I miss it.
