Elizabeth's Children

Elizabeth's Children Our fundraising efforts for the moment are aimed at supporting Sinetemba but our overall mission is f They care for and feed up to 200 children.

The charity started because of an amazing lady called Elizabeth, who looked after vulnerable, orphaned and abused children in the Zwelethemba township, outside of Cape Town, South Africa. She did this for 20 years and used her pension as well as meager donations. Very sadly Elizabeth died suddenly in July 2012, but we are continuing to support the children she cared for. A separate charity, called

Sinetemba, has been formed in South Africa. We support them by giving them grants through our fundraising efforts here in the UK. For almost all these children the meal they provide is the only food they will have all day. When the children are in danger at home, they are able to escape to a room of safety at Elizabeth’s house. This happens usually over weekends when parents are often drunk and may become violent. All Elizabeth’s children either attend the local crèche or school. Apart from providing much needed food and clothing, they also run after school activities, which include arts and crafts, music and reading. If a child becomes unwell, they pay for transport to hospital and for medical attention. For £3 a week, 3 of Elizabeth’s children receive 5 hot meals a week. We have a team based in the UK and one in Zwelethemba however most of the fundraising is done in the UK. They have many more plans to expand, but for this they need funds, every penny we raise goes directly to care for the children. Charity Number: 1153516

So, we have a new shiny and colourful website for Elizabeth’s Children, and we’d love it if you took a wander around the site - maybe even signed up for the occasional newsletter or simply got in touch. You can also follow us on any of our other platforms.

In fact, do reach out for anything at all. We need as much support as we can get - or rather, the children of Sinethemba Trust do.

🎉 We’re back in action!

After a little tech trouble, our email is finally working again—and we’re so happy to be able to share our latest newsletter from Sinethemba, the incredible project we support in South Africa.

For nearly 12 years, Elizabeth’s Children has been quietly supporting Sinethemba, helping to feed, educate, and care for children living in a township in the Western Cape.

Thanks to your support over the years, we’ve been able to:
❤️ Change so many young lives
👩‍🏫 Provide jobs for teachers and cooks
💸 And make sure every single penny raised goes directly to the project—not a drop is spent on admin here in the UK.

Sinethemba gets very little help from the SA government and relies almost entirely on donations. So your kindness truly makes a world of difference.

Take a look at the newsletter to see what your support is doing on the ground—we think you’ll be inspired.

And… exciting news! Our website is getting a little makeover and will be back online soon.

Thank you so much for being part of this journey. We couldn’t do it without you! 🙏
