Our Alcohol Health Champions Project, in partnership with Surrey County Council, has produced this fantastic video in preparation for Alcohol Awareness Week in July, as well as for use during the World Cup, when alcohol consumption tends to rise.

📍 West Surrey (Victoria Gate or Guildford) | 💼 22 hrs/week | 💰 £21,181 (pro rata)

Surrey County Council is seeking a dedicated Community Information Officer to help residents stay healthy, independent and connected within their local communities. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the Connect to Community model, providing “information, guidance and resources about local services to enable residents to stay healthy and independent in their own communities” .

In this role, the officer will:
• Identify personalised free or low‑cost community support for residents
• Keep information on voluntary, community and faith sector services up to date
• Support social care practitioners with strength‑based, community‑focused opportunities
• Provide training on local community assets and resources
• Map gaps and trends in community provision and share insights with colleagues
• Record activity using the adult social care database
• Work collaboratively across Connect to Community teams to develop creative, local solutions

The role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, understands community networks, and is motivated by making a meaningful difference. As outlined in the role profile, the post holder will “interact and work collaboratively with Connect to Community teams to share information and resources, and support practitioners to take a strength‑based approach” .

• Experience supporting people with diverse social care needs
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• Confidence using IT systems
• A problem‑solving mindset and ability to work independently
• Understanding of confidentiality and inclusive practice
