We are an active Scout Group just south of Guildford in Surrey, UK.

This months scout's session was back at our adopted home Bentley Copse Activity Centre.

Making and using rocket stoves to cook lunch followed by some badge work, topped off with a session on the leap of faith.

Are you a former Scout, Guide, Cadet?

Have you recently moved to our area,

Do you love being in the outdoors?

Can you spare a Saturday once a month or even a couple of hours on a Monday or Thursday evening?

Would you be interested in becoming part of our volunteer team?

Our sections are led by our experienced volunteers who will provide support and guidance

The time commitment would be as much as you can spare. Many hands make light work.

There are a few mandatory training requirements but these are made up of online and convenient In person first aid training.

Scouting is fun, rewarding and entertaining.

Our meeting schedule:

Beavers: Monday 5.30 - 6.30 Chilworth Village Hall.

Cubs: Thursday 6.45 - 8.00 Chilworth Village Hall

Scouts: Second Saturday of the month 10 00 - 4.00 Bentley Copse Activity Centre.

Explorer Scouts: Third Saturday of the month 10.00 - 4.00 Bentley Copse Activity Centre.

This months session was based on team work. Not sure what this spontaneous maypole ritual was all about.

Once a term our Scout team run an evening for the Cubs. Our Patrol Leaders each took a Six under their wing for a spot of fire lighting and the all important smores. Building bridges and breaking down barriers for when the Cubs are old enough to join.

Well done to all our Scouts and Leaders for completing our introduction to Backpacking weekend.
We hiked for 20km over 2 days around our patch of the beautiful Surrey Hills. From our adopted home of Bentley Copse Activity Centre with another overnight stop in Forest Green before circling back to Cranleigh.

The first time Backpacking for most of the young people and a couple of the leaders.😊 Plenty of smiles and some tired bodies but valuable experience and knowledge for the next challenges.

Well done to our Scouts. In this months session they undertook the practical portion of their Chef's badge. Outdoor cooking, on alter fires at the slightly muddy Bentley Copse. We were treated to some genuinely great meals. Chicken Curry, Mac Nd Cheese and a Thai Green Curry. Followed by a fun go round the adventure course. Full tummies, clean kitchen and very much less clean Scouts.

Well done to the Beavers & Cubs who turned out for Sunday's Remembrance Service. You did 1st Shalford proud with your Standard Bearing, Readings, wreath laying and impromptu singalong.
